Buckman SUN Registration and Course Descriptions Session Begins: September 15th Session Ends: December 12th Fall 2014 IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION REGISTRATION: In order to ensure that your registration form is processed, please make sure to bring the following: 1) A com- pleted registration form (make sure both sides are completely filled out); 2) A completed scholarship form and documenta- tion (if applicable); and 3) Payment, or at least the 1 st installment of 1/3 of cost as well as dates of the next installments. Full payment for community partner classes must be made at registration. Registrations that do not include all of the above may not be able to be processed until the required items are brought in. LOTTERY: If you are interested in Lego Robotics or Drama please pick up a lottery form near the SUN bulletin board. Lottery forms are due by Tuesday, September 9th @ 5pm. This helps alleviate longer registration lines. SNACK & CLASS TIMES: Children are to report directly to the Cafeteria at 3 pm for snack (Tuesdays in Dance Studio). To re- duce the chance of lost items, please encourage students to leave belongings in their locker. If your child has food allergies or is a picky eater, please pack a healthy snack and drink for them. We serve a snack from 3-3:10 pm. From 3:10-3:25 all students will do a group physical activity. Please remind your child to participate fully in these aerobic activities. First hour class will be from 3:25- 4:25. Second hour class will be from 4:30-5:30. PICK UPS: Children must be signed out from inside the cafeteria after their SUN classes. Please be sure to pick up your child promptly at 4:25 or 5:30 when class ends. If you will regularly be later than 5:30, enroll your child in Late Care. Please limit early pickups during class time. This is disruptive for our teachers and other students and interferes with your child’s learning. DROP/CHANGE POLICY: Our Drop Policy allows refunds only before Friday of the second week of SUN classes each term. All class changes, drop requests, & changes to who is authorized to pick up your child must be in writing . Grab a “Change Form” by our bulletin board. You can leave these in our mailbox in the school office or bring them to Room 214. PAYMENT & SCHOLARSHIPS: With documentation of free/reduced lunch, partial scholarships (up to 50%) are available for Im- pactNW SUN classes. IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION

ate books to become the author & illustrator of your own stories! Inspired by your life or imagination, write stories & fill the pages of your book.

K-2 Endangered Animal Safari……………………………………………….. Help save endangered animals! Come with us on a safari around the world to learn why animals are threatened and what people are doing to

promotions. While open to all skill levels, this class is based on the tenets of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, indomitable spirit, and self-control.

3-5 AKA Science………..………………………………………………………. IT'S ALIVE! Grow a bubbling mess, dissect an owl pellet and investigate jumping beans! From shark teeth to camel feet, living things are full of

Motion Magic Tumbling K-2……………………………………………...…… Cost $84/term (pay to Motion Magic) Tumbling with a twist, this class uses

imagination, yoga, creative movement and circus arts to make gymnastics into an adventure. The kids will do a gymnastics circuit, learning basic tumbling skills, strength exercises and locomotion. We’ll use fun props too!

Beginning Marimba 3-5……………….…………………………….. Cost: $80 (Payable to Eric Miller)...No previous experience necessary but

lots of physical energy and enthusiasm needed! Learn to play high-energy music on wooden xylophones, called marimbas, all the way from Zim-babwe. There will be singing too!

4:30—5:30 K-2 Color My World……………………………………………………………..

Get crafty in this hands-on class devoted to all things colorful! Explore the color wheel, discover new colors, and create treasures to share with friends and family.

K-3 Get Fit……………………………………………………………………… Learn basic health education around nutrition, hydration, stretching, exer-

cise, and more. Try out aerobic, flexibility, and strength building games and movements as you build a stronger, healthier body.

2-5 Typing and Keyboarding Games– ……….……………………………... Improve your typing and keyboarding skills while having fun! Kids will play high-interest typing games to build skills and speed. A fun and necessary

cises, voice work, and a variety of activities designed to improve perform-ance, students prepare to take the stage!

3-5 Lego Robotics (2-hour class) Lottery Class………….……………….. This term, students begin their journey to teamwork and building. The LEGO Robotics class is an excellent way for young people to experience

the excitement of technical creativity and gain insights in the possibility of technical careers. It’s a fun way to learn about mechanical design and computer programming. No previous technical or programming experience

is required.

K-2 Jr. Botanist………………………………………………………………….. Science sleuths and garden gurus unite for an exploration of the amazing world of plants. This class will feature hands on projects that include mak-

ing observations of plant behavior, growing plants from seeds, and making plant inspired art. Get ready to get your hands dirty to discover how plants grow, survive, and reproduce all across the planet.

craft of weaving while practicing focus, patience, and concentration. No previous experience necessary. Previous students encouraged to enroll to build new skills too!

Go on a virtual voyage around the world, with each week focusing on a new country, its stories, art, customs, food or games.

K-2 Yoga……….…………………………………………………………………. Turn downward dog into an upward smile with this relaxing and fun yoga class. No experience needed, only you and your best “Om...”. *Please provide your own mat or towel. If not possible, one will be provided.

3-5 Painting……………………………………………………………………….

Do fall surroundings inspire your inner artist? Let’s go and explore light and form with unusual painting techniques! We will paint with traditional watercolor techniques, pen and ink, colored pencil, and more. Enjoy ex-
