January 24, 2013 To the Booker T. Washington HSPVA Faculty, Staff and Community: It is with mixed emotions that I announce that I have accepted a position as Executive Director with the Dallas Independent School District. In my new role, I will be supervising principals and schools in the Thomas Jefferson feeder pattern as well as Longfellow Middle School. This was a very difficult decision for me in so many ways. I have truly loved working at this incredible school. In the last 4 ½ years, I have been honored to work with an extraordinarily talented student body and an exceptional faculty. Within these walls, an amazing group of “creative revolutionaries” reside. They comprise one of the most talented, dedicated, hard working, and passionate school communities I have ever known. I also cannot begin to express my gratitude to the Advisory Board, parents and Arts District partners for their support and guidance. Under their leadership, I have learned so much! Most of all, I will genuinely miss the individuals that I have had the pleasure of working with during my time at BTW. The District is committed to ensuring that Booker T continues to grow, thrive and push the boundaries of excellence both academically and artistically. They are also committed to finding an exceptional new principal. The District will involve the Advisory Board, parent leadership, faculty and other stakeholders in the search for a new leader. In the next week, the District will name an interim principal and share the process and timeline for hiring a new principal. A huge part of me will always be with Booker T. This is an extraordinary school because of the people who work, learn and create in this beautiful space. I will continue to support the school as well as the arts as an avid patron and cheerleader. I wish the school and everyone associated with it only the best. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the “magic” that is only found at Booker T. Tracie J. Fraley Principal Booker T.
