theoretical frameworks ad scholarly persuasios al ike.
The studies may be coed to a liguistic pheomeo i the
history of oe laguage or be comparative. They may be from ay
area of historical l iguistics, provided that they show a progress
from the state-of-the-art.

ad to scholars doig historical-comparative research o less-documeted laguages or laguage

iterest i historical liguistics, dr ivig methodological chages i the eld: projects ow
utilize la rge computerized corpora ad more advaced computatioal methods, plus iovativetheoretical approaches to la guage chage, such as diachroic typology, diachroic costructio
grammar, statist ical phylogeetic methods, ad other applicatios of moder approaches ad
research questios o historical data. Article-legth products from this surge of activity ca d
outlets i multiple jourals, icludig the ew jourals Language DynamicsandChange ad Journal
of Historical Linguistics. However, historical work ofte requires a loger presetatio, especially
i order to covey the may examples ad tables that accompay comparative work ad to give
space to the proper explicatio ad elaboratio of the data ad the argumetatio that is eeded.

to books, particularly moographs, targeted at the historical liguist ics commuity at large.
