The latter leads one completely off track; making this basic strategic mistake, one commits misdeeds, and eventually gets what one deserves. One regrets wasting this lifetime’s golden opportunity as one sees the end of life approaching nearer and eventually departs with a sense of failure and suffers transmigration. On the contrary, those who surrender completely and unreservedly and attune to the Guru’s divine teaching are pronounced free from the ‘cycle of birth and death’ at His Court. Show mercy, O Lord, make me crave to know thy Will and live by Your Order, for there is none other than thee to whom I can pray. This month of Asaarh is pleasant to him who has attuned himself to His Will and Order.

Guru Har Gobind ji became Guru on 11 June 1606 following in the footsteps of his father Guru Arjan Dev ji. During the Guruship ceremony he wore two swords, the one on his right side represented Piree (spiritual living) and that on his left stood for Miree (temporal power). !
