SUMMERTIME AND THE LIVING IS EASY!

For the July 18th program, I will be teaching this watermelon toothpick holder, which will be a nice addition to your summertime picnics. I’ve taken this as a “hostess” gift when I’ve been invited to picnics. This is a very easy project, so if you have a friend, neighbor, or relative that is interested in decorative painting, this would be a good time to bring them as a guest. PWP will provide the surface. Look left and see the Delta and the DecoArt Americana colors you will need to bring if you have them. I will have a set of each in case you don’t have some of the colors listed. I used Delta Ceramcoat colors for the one in the picture.

Bring your normal acrylic painting supplies. You will also need sealer, a small piece of sea sponge, stippler, #1 round brush for seeds, and #2 or #4 flat brush for shading. Drinks and goodies will be provided by Hospitality. Since Pat Meyers is recuperating from knee surgery her program, “Creative Stroke Project,” originally set for this month will be rescheduled for 2017. We wish Pat a speedy recovery and will be thinking about her.

I am so excited and happy wih the growth and accomplishments of our Chapter thus far this year, and looking forward to the remaining months. This time of year is also the time we need to be looking forward to electing new officers and chair persons. A Club is only as strong as its members. You have been absolutely fantastic to me and I love you for you patience and support, but I am the first to admit that you deserve better. I

feel my age for the first time, and because I love this Chap-ter so much, I want the best for it As my personal plate is getting full, and my ability to multitask has diminished I am asking each of you to look deep inside and see if you can step up and take on a officer or Chair person position.> On a painting note, wasn’t our scarf project great? I think it was so fun, and what a nice gift idea. I

am so sorry Linda Sutphin could not join us but she did an outstanding job of teaching Dee the ropes, and Dee in turn was a great teacher. We have so much talent within our

Paint Ins Memory BoxesSo far in 2016, we delivered 37 boxes to PinnacleHealth Harris-burg Hospital. We currently have 70 painted Memory Boxes. I will have patterns and boxes at the July meeting. Dottie Shultz is work-ing on an original design for 2017. Please varnish your boxes before handing them in. Also, please write “memoryboxes.org” on the bottom of the boxes in perma-nent marker. It’s best to spray over the permanent marker with Krylon Matte Finish 1311 to set the marker before using brush-on varnish. Thanks for participating in this worthwhile Community Service project.

“Tulips in a Ball Jar” Joyce Gutierrez

The June Paint In was a blast! All of the ladies who attended made such beautiful hand-dyed and painted silk scarves. Thank you Dee for teaching this wonderful project! Also, Thanks to Linda Sut-phin who taught Dee the project and for gathering EVERYTHING we needed. Our next Paint In will be taught by Joyce Gutierrez on August 20th. She is teaching us to paint “Tulips in a Ball Jar.” The cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-mem-bers. You must provide your own surface and supplies. The pattern size is 8.5”x11”. Please RSVP by August 1st. Non-members are welcomed, so please invite your friends and family. Looking into October, Fran Huffman will be teaching us to paint “Faux Tiles” on October 15th. Membership ReportOnce again, we have increased our membership by one.We welcome our newest renewal member, Karen Gleim. Karen, we hope to see you at our next General meetingon Monday, July 18. Thank you to Carol Henry, Fran Huffman, Betty Lou Zimmerman, Melissa Crowther and Judy Vetock for sharing their artwork in the hall and curio cabinet at Messiah Village for the month of May. We as a group sold 22 pieces during the month. Please consider joining us in Sep-tember and/or December, as we will be hanging art work for each of those months. Remember, you set your price and we donate 10% of your sales to Messiah and withhold 6% for PA sales tax.

SeminarsWe have an upcoming seminar on September 24 – 26, 2016 with a local artist, Wendy Young. Wendy uses quickwood to create her art-work and give it a 3D affect. After the quickwood dries we will then be painting them. Hope you are planning on attending our upcom-ing seminar with Wendy Young. Wendy selected the three projects with Quickwood so they dry and we have enough time to paint them. The seminar was shared with the public on June 25, so don’t de-lay registering for the seminar. The location of the seminar has been changed to the Monroe Township Municipal Building, 1220 Boiling Springs Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.

2016 Ways and MeansHello fellow painters, We are into summer, finally, hope you are all enjoying the warm weather. Thank you to all who contributed to our lovely semi-nar with Beth and our domino Paint-In. What fun we had! I am very happy to hear your favorable comments about the flower arrangements for the seminar and Paint-In. Someone said, “Flowers bring peace to the soul.” (I don’t know the author.) I am happy you are on this journey with me! Also, should you bring a dish to share, please provide the appropriate serving utensil for serving your dish. PWP does not have extra serv-ing utensils. In addition, at our future painting events I will make an announcement about 10 minutes prior to our break for lunch to allow time for you to place your dish on our table. Thanks again for your willingness to

make our painting time together more enjoyable. Your support and participation are appreciated!
