    Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit Project

    The Crosstown will transform transit in the region and enhance the

    quality of life for Toronto residents for years to come.

    Fast, reliable and comfortable transit along Eglinton Avenue, fromMount Dennis in Torontos west end to Kennedy Station in the east end.

    25 stations and stops with rapid transit connections to the Yonge-University-Spadina subway and GO Transits Stouffville line.

    An underground section that is more than 10 kilometres from KeeleStreet to Brentcliffe Road.

    Once in operation, the Crosstown will move 53 million riders per yearand will reduce travel time through the area by up to 60% compared to

    bus travel now. Represents a $5.3 billion investment in transit infrastructure.

    Status Update & Highlights

    Two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) tunnelling east from Black CreekDrive and Eglinton.

    o Follow the progress with our TBM Tracker at thecrosstown.ca

    Headwall construction for future stations at Keele and Caledonia hasbeen completed; construction at Dufferin and Oakwood is underway.

    Construction of east launch site ear Brentcliffe Road with tunnelling tofollow.

    o Launch site construction: approx. one year

    o TBM arrival in summer 2014 and assembly to follow on-site

    Extraction and launch shaft construction at Allen Road through 2014.

    PRESTO Fare Card

    TTC rollout a top priority:

    PRESTO users doubled in the past year; recentlypassed the 1 millionth customer mark.

    Currently, 39 PRESTO devices located at 14 TTCsubway stations performing approximately 27,000transactions per weekday.

    Fall 2014, PRESTO will start to add new PRESTOdevices at 11 additional subway stations, and

    begin the PRESTO rollout on new streetcars forthe Spadina, Bathurst, Dundas and Harbourfrontroutes.

    The Yonge Relief Network Study involves developingregional, network-based solutions to address YongeSubway crowding.

    The Study will examine full range of potential solutions,and recommend short-, medium- and long-term solutionsto address Yonge capacity issues and system-wide

    benefits:o What are the full range of alternatives that need to be

    considered, and what is optimal phasing with other NextWave projects?

    Public and stakeholder consultation will informrecommendations. Dates and times for the first round ofpublic consultations will be released shortly.

    Coordinated planning is being undertaken by Metrolinx,TTC, City of Toronto and York Region.

    In September 2013, the government announced an advisory panel toreview the Metrolinx Investment Strategy.

    The 13-member Panel was organized to support the Province in itsreview of, and response to, the recommendations in Metrolinxs

    Investment Strategy, through research and analysis, as well as publicengagement and dialogue.

    The Panel released its report, Making the Move: Choices andConsequences, in December 2013.
