The roundabout has been moved200m closer to the Caloundra Roadinterchange to reduce travel distanceto access the western service road.
Options to retain the ramps were investigated, however due to the close spacingof the Caloundra Road and Sunshine Motorway interchanges, this would lead tosafety issues due to traffic conflicts caused by lane changing and mergingmovements. This risk would further increase when the highway is ultimatelywidened to eight lanes.
