PARKS properties

Arbuckle Acres Park is the oldest park in Brownsburg. It boasts beautiful mature shade trees on its 68 acres. Amenities include a baseball complex, lighted basketball and tennis courts, 1.3 miles of trails, seven shelters, and a playground shielded with a canopy of trees. A large open

area is home for several recreational activities, practices, and organized events. Unique photo spots in Arbuckle Acres include the walking bridge and Carmony Fountain.

Williams Park’s 77 acres is home to Blast-Off Playground, a space ship-themed wooden play structure. Maple Ridge Trail is a .79-mile crushed stone nature trail in the wooded area along White Lick Creek. Other amenities include six shelters, a second

playground, basketball courts, and a paved .78-mile oval track.

Williams Park940 S. Locust Lane

Located at the north entrance of Williams Park, this garden is dedicated to all men and women who have served in the military. The beautifully landscaped garden surrounds a memorial brick pathway that encircles a granite monument remembering United States veterans. Signage highlights the major

wars and memorial bricks identify veterans by name, branch of military they served, and their service dates. Memorial bricks can be purchased through the Administrative Office.

This 14-plus acre property on Hornaday Road next to the B & O Trail was acquired through a trade of properties with the Brownsburg Community School Corporation. The undeveloped open green space is currently used for informal recreation.

Stephens Park is one of Brownsburg’s best-kept secrets. It is a four acre neighborhood park with one picnic shelter, swings, and a playground structure, making it seem more like a private park. This park is in close proximity to Williams Park.Stephens Park

Eaton Hall is a banquet room/meeting place in the Town Hall municipal complex. The 50’ x 40’ room accommodates up to 160 people. Amenities include 15 8-foot tables, 120 chairs, a podium, and a fully accessible kitchen. Rates are $40/hour for residents living within the corporate limits or $60/hour for those living

outside of the corporate limits. A $250 deposit is due with the reservation fee. See rental information on page 7 in this Rec Guide.

Brownsburg Parks is bringing you a new twist on Easter -- the very first adult EGG

Mixing the thrill of a treasure hunt and the skill of Geocaching, each participant will be given a coordinate that will lead you to a box of eggs. Inside the egg will be your next clue and a prize. The eggs will lead you to 10 different locations throughout Brownsburg. Each participant has a week to complete the event. The final clue will lead you to the finish line and the grand prize!

Rent a Geocache from the Parks office for $15 or use your smart phone by downloading the Open Caching by Garmin app.

Spring Adventure Camp

Not sure what your kids will do during Spring Break? Let them attend Adventure Camp! Your kids will have a variety of activities throughout the week including a field trip on Monday and Wednesday. Activities will vary between physical, educational, and enrichment activities. Children must already be enrolled in kindergarten or be age 6. This is a ratio of 10:1.

Summer is a great time of exploration, adventure and discovery for children. The days are filled with opportunities for kids to learn a new skill, expand their minds, and release that energy stored up from a long school year. Brownsburg Parks has a camp for your child to experience and take advantage of this summer. Adventure Camp’s unique activities and trips throughout the summer will broaden your child’s horizons and get them thinking creatively. We have a variety of guest speakers coming in throughout the summer to teach the students about different careers in the community. Brownsburg Parks believes strongly in the concept of “play” and in the different forms it can come. We work to provide summer camp participants with an opportunity to experience these different forms. The goal of Brownsburg Parks is to engage your child all summer with professional staff selected for their passion for all different kinds of play and with indoor and outdoor facilities that provide the necessary tools for a diverse amount of activity.

Tiny TotsGet your toddlers ready for summer day camp with this preschool mini-camp! The camp is located at Eagle Elementary School and meets three times a week. Children will participate in fun crafts, sports, and games that are geared towards the weekly themes. Tiny Tots does not meet on Memorial Day or July 4th.

Learn to Swim

Learn to Swim is a program that educates young children on the basic skills of swimming through the American Red Cross and Whales Tales

Women’s Self-Defense Classes

Pickleball is one of the fastest growing senior sports in the country! Similar to tennis, Pickleball is a lower impact activity that will bring you physical activity, competition and fun! Starting in early spring, the Arbuckle Acres tennis courts nets will be put back up and ready for use. Pickleball lines have been painted on the courts for easier play. Come join the senior Pickleball players for pick-up games every Tuesday starting April 2.

Pricing Policy

Brownsburg residents enjoy a discounted rate for most programs. Those who live outside of the corporate town limits pay the regular fee.

Forms of Payment

Brownsburg Parks accepts cash, check and Visa or Mastercards. Checks with insufficient funds are subject to the Town’s NSF fee. This fee is subject to change without notification.

Refund PolicyAll refunds are subject to the Brownsburg Parks policies and

be submitted prior to the start of the program. Download a refund request form and see more details on www.brownsburgparks.com.

Eaton Hall Reservations

Please call the Parks Department at 858-4172 for availability. Reservations must be made in person at Town Hall. The full cost of the rental and $250 deposit is due at the time you reserve Eaton Hall. You will be asked to sign a contract.

Adult ProgramsYield for Yarn 3rd Monday of Every Month (no meeting in January), 2:30 p.m. Come to the library to work on your latest yarn project. Socialize, share ideas, get help with problems, or help other needle artists with theirs. Crocheters and knitters welcome!

Brown Bag Travel Club Last Tuesday of Every Month, 11:30 a.m. Watch travel shows, bring your lunch, and meet others who enjoy learning about new places. Ages 18+.

Movie Nights January 24, February 28, March 21, April 25, 5 p.m. Come watch a great movie and nibble on free popcorn. Ages 18+.

General Programs (for the whole family!)Winter Dance PartyWednesday, January 16, 4:30 p.m.Feeling cooped up? Need to get up and move a little? Then join us for a fun Winter Dance Party! Toddler Drive-InFriday, February 22, 10:30 a.m.Ages 2 to 3 1/2 yearsEven if your toddler doesn’t know what a Drive-In movie is, they’ll still have a great time at this special story time! We’ll read some stories, rhyme, and sing some songs. Then, we’ll decorate boxes like cars and enjoy a “drive-in” short movie. Snacks are welcome during the “drive-in” portion of this program. This program is intended for children ages 2 to 3 1/2 with an adult caregiver. Registration is not required. Program entry for late arrivals is subject to programmer’s discretion.

Interactive Movie: Labyrinth Monday, February 11, 5 to 7 p.m. Can you (attempt!) to speak in a British accent? Can you eat gummy worms? Or how about blowing bubbles or setting off a whoopee cushion? We will do all these things and more during various scenes as we watch the movie!

Meme T-Shirts Thursday, March 14, 6 to 7:30 p.m. “Keep Calm and Carry a Wand” You probably see memes just about everywhere you look these days! How would you like to create your own and put it on a t-shirt? You would? Awesome! Just bring a plain white t-shirt with you to the program and you will make your own unique meme t-shirt to celebrate Teen Tech Week! Please register for this program.

Change is in the Air! We’re anticipating many exciting changes in 2013 and will bring you more details later, but for now we’d like to let you in on exciting news that will impact our Children’s Department.

In 2013, we’ll be reorganizing our Children’s collection. What does this mean? We’ll be developing categories and grouping books together in hopes that it will be easier for children of all ages to find the perfect book!

In addition to this easy, new way to find books, we’ll be laying (much-needed) new carpet. If you’ve visited lately you’ll notice we’re showing wear and tear these days.

So, what can you expect? In the coming months, you’ll see us prepare by moving shelving, tearing out and replacing carpet, and re-labeling books. During this process we’ll try to keep you in the loop as much as possible through our social media sites as well as in-house signage. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesistate to give us a call at (317) 852-3167 (ask for Wanda, Denise or Amie).

We believe this will make finding a book so much easier for our littlest audience and we’re very excited to encourage the love of reading and the discovery of books in a way even our youngest kiddos can understand!

Flex League Tennis

Brownsburg Parks new Flex League Tennis is designed to help you fit tennis and fitness into your busy life!

You choose singles or doubles and Brownsburg Parks will match you with competition at your playing level. You schedule and play when it’s convenient for you.

Six matches over 12 weeks, with a single-elimination tournament starting week 13. May 25 through August 10.
