Hong Kong: The climate is generally subtropical ranging

from an average of 17˚C in winter to 31˚C in summer.

Macau: Temperatures range from 16˚C in winter to 25˚C

in summer.

Beijing: Has a ‘continental monsoon’ climate with

temperatures averaging between 4˚C in winter and 26˚C

in summer.

Shanghai: Experience a great contrast in seasons with

winter temperatures averaging 10˚C and summer close

to 30˚C.

j Currency

Hong Kong’s currency is the Hong Kong Dollar (HK$). The Pataca

(MOP) is the official unit of currency in Macau but Hong Kong

Dollars are widely accepted.

e Passports, visas and insurance

Australian passport holders must have a valid passport with

at least six months’ validity beyond their stay in Hong Kong,

China and Macau. Australian passport holders do not require

a visa for visits of up to three months in Hong Kong and 30

days in Macau. All visitors to China do require a visa. We

strongly recommend that you purchase a comprehensive

travel insurance policy, when you book your holiday.

i Tipping

Most hotels in Hong Kong and Macau will add 10% service

charge to your bill. Tipping in addition to this is at your

discretion. Historically and officially, tipping is discouraged

in China. However, as China welcomes more and more

western visitors, attitudes have changed and tipping is

more widely accepted as an expression of appreciation for

services. Travellers should note that punctuality for meals

and sightseeing tours is greatly appreciated.

g Electricity

In Hong Kong and China voltage is 220 volts. Plugs are

normally three-pin rectangular pronged. However an

international adaptor is recommended.

n Shopping

Hong Kong is a city of commerce and trade and is famous

for its tailored clothes, electrical and photographic goods,

watches, antiques, silk fabrics, china, diamonds, jewellery,

perfume and local handicrafts. You’ll find everything from

cutting-edge fashion to Chinese antiques.

In Macau, the most popular buys include jewellery, antiques,

electrical goods, porcelain, pottery, watches and knitwear,

which are all available at duty-free prices.

China offers hundreds of modern shopping centres with

good quality silks, crafts and jewellery. Staff at these stores

generally understand English. The art and craft factories

feature jewellery, porcelain, ceramics, carvings, Chinese

lanterns, linen, rugs, clay figures and silk embroidery.

H o n g K o n g a n d M a c a u

Hong KongHong Kong is a story in three parts: Hong Kong Island,

Kowloon Peninsula and the New Territories. Together,

they’re a thrilling combination of modern skyscraper and

ancient temple, shredded jellyfish stir-fry and dawn tai

chi, beaches, mountains and deserted islands. And then

there’s the sublime shopping: designer fashion, electrical

goods and charming local souvenirs. Hong Kong’s history

is fascinating. Originally a small fishing community and a

haven for travellers and pirates, it was used by the British

as a naval base during the Opium Wars with China.

It remained a British colony from 1842 until sovereignty

was transferred to the Peoples Republic of China in 1997.

KowloonTeeming with fantastic bars, pubs, shops and markets,

Kowloon is connected to Hong Kong by three tunnels and

the Light Rail Transit, but a trip across Hong Kong Harbour

on a Star Ferry is the ideal way to commute between the

two. Be tempted by the Temple Street Night Markets and

wander along Nathan Road for its vast range of shopping.

Hong Kong IslandConsidered the heart of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Island is a

mix of entertainment, shopping, markets, cafes, beaches

and floating restaurants. It’s also the historic, political and

economic centre of the nation, and home to the original

settlement of the Hong Kong territory, Victoria. Take a ride

to Victoria Peak for spectacular views or dine in the famous

Jumbo Floating Restaurant on Aberdeen Harbour.

MacauSet on a small peninsula at the entrance to the Pearl River,

Macau was once a Portuguese stronghold and this heritage

is laid out in the country’s fortresses, churches and delicious

food. Today, more than 96 per cent of its 540,000-plus

residents are ethnic Chinese, from provinces including

Guangdong and Fujian, which makes for an intriguing

blend of customs. Only an hour from Hong Kong by

catamaran or jetfoil, Macau and its temples, museums and

casinos are well worth exploring.

Day 1: Hong Kong The first thing to experience in Hong Kong and to help you recover from your jetlag is a foot reflexology massage. After this you will feel fully refreshed and ready for your Hong Kong sightseeing. Overnight: Sheraton Hong Kong

Day 2: Hong Kong Begin your Hong Kong sightseeing with a Hong Kong Island tour. Take a tram ride up to Victoria Peak for a great view of Hong Kong. Then head to ‘Aberdeen’ which is a famous fishing village of Hong Kong. The tour then goes to the well-known Stanley markets where you can pick up some great deals at just a fraction of the price in town. During the evening take a Harbour Cruise and enjoy the Symphony of Lights Show. Overnight: Sheraton Hong Kong

Day 3: Hong Kong Shopping is on the menu for today. Hong Kong is arguably one of the best cities for shopping with everything from luxury boutiques to the markets. For great outlet shopping head to the City Gate Outlets which are easy to get to via the MTR. For markets, head to Mong Kok or for high-end shopping, visit the Harbour City Mall, the largest mall in Hong Kong. After the sun sets enjoy world-class dining and harbour views, consider Aqua or Hutong at One Peking. Overnight: Sheraton Hong Kong

Day 4: Hong Kong - Sanya Transfer to Hong Kong Airport for your flight to Sanya. Sanya is located on Hainan Island in the South of China, only a one hour flight from Hong Kong. Sanya is the perfect destination for a beach holiday after your sightseeing trip to Hong Kong. Sanya offers beautiful beaches where you can relax and put your feet up and enjoy a cocktail on the beach. Overnight: Sheraton Sanya Resort

Day 5: Sanya Spend the day relaxing in Sanya. Overnight: Sheraton Sanya Resort

Day 6: Sanya - Hong Kong Transfer to Sanya Airport for your flight back to Australia via Hong Kong Airport.

On your day trip to Macau, you will have the chance to visit the St Paul’s Ruins, an early 16th century church, walk down the picturesque cobblestone streets to the main square or perhaps try your luck at one of the casinos. Booking conditions 55

Please read these conditions carefully as

they apply to all Qantas Holidays bookings.

Suppliers: Qantas Holidays is not itself a

transport, tour, event or accommodation

provider. In making your travel

arrangements we act only as an agent

for the airlines, hotels, tour operators and

other suppliers who supply those services.

You should obtain and read the applicable

supplier’s terms and conditions as they may

limit or exclude their liability to you.

How to book: Contact your licensed AFTA

travel consultant, who will be responsible

for managing your booking and forwarding

your payment to us. You will be deemed to

have accepted these conditions on behalf

of everyone named in your booking. Please

note that all requests for bookings are

subject to availability.

Booking fee: Your travel agency may apply

a booking fee in addition to the price of your

holiday package. Please check at the time

of booking.

Payment: A non-refundable deposit is

payable within seven days of confirmation

of your booking:

• domestic (within Australia) $55 per person

• international $165 per person

• plus any additional deposit required by

suppliers (you will be notified at the time

of booking)

Payment of the balance in full is required

at least 30 days before the scheduled

commencement of your holiday (or earlier

if specified for the particular package).

For bookings made within this period, full

payment is required at the time of booking.

If you have not paid by the due date,

we may cancel your booking and retain

your deposit.

Cancellations: If you cancel your booking,

the amount of your deposit will not be

refunded, including deposits required by

suppliers. If you have paid the balance of

your holiday price, suppliers may also impose

cancellation fees amounting to all or part of

the total price paid. Once your holiday has

commenced, you cannot cancel or obtain a

refund on any component of your booking

regardless of whether you use it.

Changes by you: If you change your

holiday package and your documents need

to be reissued, a change fee is payable at

the time of the change:

• domestic (within Australia) $27

• international $25

• plus any cancellation / change fee imposed

by suppliers for any component you cancel.

Unforseen changes: If we have to change

any part of your booking, for example, if an

airline changes its schedules or your chosen

accommodation is no longer available, or

if there is an increase in the price due to

additional taxes or supplier charges, we

will notify you. You will have the option of

cancelling your booking, in which case we

will refund the amount you have paid,

less any cancellation fees imposed by

other suppliers.

International travel: Each passenger is

responsible for their own visa, passport

(with at least 6 months validity), immigration,

quarantine, customs, health and other

requirements of the countries to be visited

or transited through. Qantas Holidays

makes no representations as to the safety,

conditions or other issues that may arise at

any destination. Travel advice is available

from the Australian Government at

smartraveller.gov.au.

Limit of liability: Subject to any applicable

law that provides otherwise, Qantas Holidays

excludes all liability for any loss or damage

whatsoever (including but not limited to

physical and psychological injury, and loss of

or damage to property of whatever nature)

that may arise in any way in connection with

the supply of goods or services by anyone,

except to the extent they were supplied by

Qantas Holidays without due care and skill.

Insurance: Consider purchasing travel

insurance.

Brochure validity: The prices and inclusions

in this brochure are valid for the dates

specified and should be used only as a

guide in relation to other dates. The prices

are correct at date of publication but may

fluctuate due to changes in surcharges, fees,

taxes and currency. Please check all prices,

availability and other information with your

travel consultant before booking.

Descriptions: Product descriptions and

pictures are generally provided by the

suppliers. Facilities may change from time to

time. Pictures may not show the particular

room, décor, view or other specifications

included in your booking. Please check all

details with your travel consultant before

booking. Anything not specifically included

in the holiday package is at your expense.NOTE: Many images are supplied courtesy of hotels, tour operators, tourist bureaus and suppliers including Hong Kong Tourism Board, Yvette Wilton, Linh Le and Elizabeth Ballas.

Privacy: Qantas Holidays collects information

about you (including health information

where necessary) to provide products

and services to you, process your travel

arrangements, facilitate your participation

in loyalty programs and conduct marketing

activities and market research. If the

information is not provided, Qantas

Holidays may not be able to provide the

service requested. Qantas Holidays may

disclose your personal information to its

related companies, carriers, travel service

providers, organisations which provide

services to Qantas Holidays (more details

are available in our Privacy Statement on

our website www.qantas.com/holidays) and

various law enforcement agencies, airports

and governments around the world for

security, customs and immigration purposes.

You may gain access to the information

Qantas Holidays holds about you by

contacting Qantas Holidays Customer

Relations in writing at PO Box 7419,

Alexandria, NSW 2015 Australia.

Law of contract: These conditions are

governed by the laws of Australia and any

action arising under them or in any way

connected with a Qantas Holidays package

may be brought only in a court in Australia,

subject to any law which is expressly

inconsistent with this.
