DESCRIPTION

250 million tons of consumer waste and 7.6 billion tons of industrial waste are generated annually in America alone. Emeco’s exploration of innovative ways to up-cycle waste and use reclaimed resources in our products, led us to an entirely new material in 2012. The Broom Chair and Stool are made with reclaimed polypropylene and discarded wood fiber from industrial factories.

OUR HERITAGEIn 1944 Emeco was asked to make lightweight, non-corrosive, fire resistant and torpedo proof chairs. The classic 1006 Navy Chair was born, and served duty on American Navy submarines and battleships. Today we work with the world’s best designers to create chairs that live up to the handcrafting, Made-In-America standards that we inherited from our founders.  OUR RESPONSIBILITYFor Emeco, design is not only the shape of the product. Our engineers and craftsmen explore and create new materials using waste and environmentally intelligent solutions. We build chairs that are so strong that they are passed down through generations – that’s how we define ‘sustainability.’  OUR MANIFESTOAt Emeco we build products that last, make the best possible choices for our planet and inspire others to do so, collaborate with the world’s best, trust in simplicity and know that our heritage is our future. And, we always ask – How can we make a difference?

FIRST LET’S MAKE THINGS THAT LAST.

BROOM by STARCK“Imagine,” says Philippe Starck, “there is a humble guy who takes a humble broom and starts to clean the work-shop and with this dust of nothing, with this he makes new magic. That’s why we call it Broom.”
