Beginning September 1, we are no longer collecting fines for items returned late. Now, money will only be owed if materials are lost or damaged. This policy does not apply to museum passes, equipment or special item loans.

To fully embrace the spirit of this change, we are waiving all previous fines and charges so that all of our patrons can start fresh on September 1. Our goal is to increase the ease of access and most importantly encourage you to take advantage of our services and collections.

Going forward, you will receive a notice when items are overdue indicating that you have or will be billed. Simply bring back the item and the bill goes away. Also, the new auto renewal system makes it even easier to manage your loans by automatically renewing eligible materials and sending you an email alert with new due dates. Stop by the Circulation Desk to make sure your account is up to date and that you are participating in this great feature. If you have lost or damaged something, let us know. You may be able to bring in non-perishable food items in place of the replacement cost. We remain committed to collecting food to support our three local pantries and welcome you to drop off goods anytime!

I’m also pleased to acknowledge the receipt of special funding from the New York State Assembly. We sincerely thank State Assemblyman Dean Murray for awarding the Library $13,000 in Bullet Aid and for recognizing the important role that libraries play in their communities. This generous grant will allow us to offer additional services and resources to the children and families of the South Country Central School District.

Sincerely,

Jamie Papandrea Director
