DRAWING NOTES

These drawings are for the sole purpose of expressing visual Graphic Design Intent only and are not intended for actual fabrication purposes. Shop drawings must be prepared and submitted to designer for final approval. This package represents Graphic Design Intent only. All Architecture is detailed in the Architectural Construction Documents issued by ka, Inc. All Final shop drawings must be coordinated with final Construction Documents.

The Sign contractor shall prepare original artwork for each sign. ka, Inc. will provide artwork in digital format file only where indicated in Graphic Design Intent package.

BIDDING INSTRUCTIONS

1. It is recommended that the Sign Contractor visit the site and become familiar with all conditions prior to preparing the bid. The Graphic Design Intent drawings may not accurately indicate field conditions.

2. An inspection of the Sign Contractor's fabrication facilities and previous work may be required.

3. Bids are to be assembled by line item, identifying the sign type, unit cost, quantity, total cost and installation cost for each.

4. Bids are due on the date and time indicated on the provided schedule established by the General Contractor. No bids will be accepted beyond that time unless the Owner forwards a written extension to all Sign Contractors. ka, Inc. and the General Contractor reserve the right to reject any and all bids.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. Written dimensions shall take precedence over scaled dimensions. Copy, quantities and references shown on the Message Schedule shall take precedence over drawings.

2. All field dimensions are to be verified by the Sign Contractor. It is the ultimate responsibility of the Sign Contractor to fabricate the signage and structures to meet the site conditions.

3. The Sign Contractor is responsible for all appropriate insurance coverage, design engineering, fabrication, installation, coordination and work of subcontractors and service of the signs as outlined in the contract documents. All construction drawings, including sign fabrication and foundations, must have a registered engineer's stamp affixed to the drawings. The engineer must be registered in the state in which this project is located. ka, Inc. shall review shop drawings for conformance with the design intent only, and is in no way responsible or liable for any results of construction from shop drawings.ka, Inc. is responsible for Graphic Design Intent only.

5. The Sign Contractor shall coordinate the installation work so as to insure the least amount of inconvenience or interruption of the employees, visitors and Tenants at the site. Work schedules shall have the approval of the General Contractor. The Sign Contractor shall clean the site and signage, removing all debris relative to the installation of the signs.

6. The General Contractor is responsible for the removal of all existing signage prior to the installation of the new program.

7. All materials, hardware, electrical components, finishes, etc., used to fabricate any and all sign components shall be "NEW" (not previously used or operated in any other application) and from the most recent original manufacturer's production run/supply and appropriately matched to the service conditions required of the site.

8. ka, Inc. and the General Contractor reserve the right to inspect the work in progress at any time during the course of fabrication.

9. It is the Sign contractor's responsibility to engineer signs to conform to local code. Shop drawings shall be marked with the seal of a state registered structural and electrical engineer.

10. All required state and municipal permits shall be obtained and paid for by the Sign Contractor. Sign permits must be obtained before beginning construction of the sign units. Copies of all required permits are to be submitted to the Owner and General Contractor.

11. All Graphic Design created by ka, Inc. and the General Contractor for this project are to be used exclusively for this project. The Sign Contractor must receive express written permission from the ka, Inc. and the General Contractor for any use other than for the completion of this project including self-promotion and publication. It is required that all original artwork furnished by the ka, Inc. be returned upon completion of this project. (Deposit may be required.)

12. All work shall be complete in every respect and satisfactory to all governing legislative authorities and building codes, and ka, Inc. and the General Contractor.

13. There shall be no visible labels, manufacturer's or otherwise, code permitting, on the completed signs. If labels are required, a sample label and intended location must be submitted for ka, Inc. and the General Contractor's review, prior to application.

14. One set of specifications and drawings will be provided to the Sign Contractor. Additional sets may be requested and purchased at the cost of assembly.

15. A conference between the Sign Contractor, ka,Inc. and the General Contractor shall occur as soon as possible following award of the contract for the purpose of establishing a schedule for submittals, shop drawings, production and installation to insure the project completion date is met.

16. The General Contractor is responsible for the administration of the work of the project. All requests for design and/or specification information or clarification should be directed to ka, Inc. and the General Contractor.

GUARANTEES

1. A minimum two-year written guarantee must be submitted to the Owner, which covers the following:a. All fabrication shall be guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship.b. Within the two years, the Sign Contractor will correct at his expertise all fabrication defects, damage to the property and its contents as a result of inferior materials or workmanship.c. The Sign Contractor will be liable for all personal injuries as a result of inferior materials, equipment or workmanship.d. The guarantee period will begin on the date of written approval of project completion or final payment is received by the Sign Contractor from the Owner.e. Defects in workmanship or materials include, but are not limited to, the following: Delaminating of sign parts, cupping, warping, or dishing of surfaces, bubbling, crazing, chalking, or fading of finishes, rusting or corrosion of parts, installations that are not plumb or secure, use of incorrect finishes or materials, or unapproved deviations from the Design Intent drawings or Written Specifications.

LOCATIONS

1. After the contract has been let, the Sign Contractor must conduct an on site inspection of existing conditions and review of sign locations.

2. The Sign Contractor shall field verify all dimensions and conditions shown on the specifications drawings. For all units that must fit closely within an existing architectural detail, the Sign Contractor must take on site dimensions. Any variations from the dimensions shown on the specifications drawings and the Sign Contractor's on site dimensions shall be brought to the attention of the ka, Inc. and the General Contractor. It is the Sign Contractor's ultimate responsibility to fabricate all signage/graphics to meet the on site conditions.

SUBMITTALS

1. Three (3) sets of detailed shop drawings (plans, elevations, details and section drawings) are to be submitted to ka, Inc. and the General Contractor for review prior to production. These drawings are to show/indicate all materials, finishes, construction details, lighting and installation detailing of artwork and signage structure, including locations of all material seams (finished and unfinished). Additional drawing(s) may be requested by the General Contractor, at the Sign Contractor's expense to further indicate items in question. These submittals shall be made within 21 days of contract approval. The General Contractor and ka, Inc. shall review and respond to the submittals within 14 days of receipt. Working drawings, shop drawings, and contract documents including permit documents are the sole responsibility of the Sign Contractor.

2. Submit two (2) 3" x 5" samples and mock-ups of all actual materials to be used for each different finished surface (both color and texture) coated to match the proper texture and finish as for each indicated, to show the quality of fabrication and design. If there are material seams or welded joints in the sign

Two (2) 3" x 5" samples of all exterior materials that can be viewed when all finished sign structures are completed and in place (in addition to those mentioned above) are to be submitted for ka, Inc. and the General Contractor's review prior to production. Items sampled would include those specified, as well as those materials proposed for substitution of specified materials, or suggested for those that are unspecified (sample drawing will be provided). Identification of all materials used, by manufacturer's descriptive literature shall be supplied with the submittals.

4. All signs must have a full, 1/2", or 1/4" size copy layout submitted to and approved by ka, Inc. prior to fabrication. These must be at a measurable scale and show exact letter, number, symbols, arrows, letter/word/line spacing, margins, etc. Copy layouts must be shown positioned within an indicated sign face outline. Adjustments to these layouts by ka, Inc. should be expected and taken into account by the Sign Contractor when scheduling the project. Any adjustment required must be resubmitted to ka, Inc. for final approval.

5. Sign contractor will provide (1) full-size prototype of each interior sign type for review in the context of the project interior by the Owner, the General Contractor and ka, Inc. Each full-size prototype to follow all design and finish specifications as indicated in the final APPROVED shop drawings. No final sign construction will proceed until Sign Contractor has full written approval of prototypes from the General Contractor and ka, Inc.

6. Sign Contractor to provide mockup prototypes for all exterior sign types. These prototypes only can be made of substitute materials for mockup review purposes only. Exterior prototypes to be reviewed within the site context by General Contractor and ka, Inc. No final sign construction will proceed until Sign Contractor has full written approval of prototypes from the General Contractor and ka, Inc.

7. All prototypes that are required to be submitted will become the property of the Owner.

8. Sign Contractor to provide the Owner with complete finish/component care instructions as specified by manufacturers for on-going sign cleaning and maintenance.

MATERIALS AND FABRICATION

1. All materials shall be of new stock, free from defects impairing strength, durability, or appearance.

2. All joints shall be welded, filled, ground, and sanded smooth prior to painting to ensure a uniform surface.

3. The number of mechanical fasteners shall be minimized in favor of welded joints. Fasteners shall be concealed except where noted on drawings. Exposed fasteners are to be flush, and matched in color and finish to adjacent surfaces.

4. When dissimilar metals are in contact, the contacting surfaces shall be coated with asphaltic paint to prevent oxidation and electrolysis. Aluminum and steel are not to come in contact with each other.

5. All adhesives shall be used in accordance with recommendations made by the manufacturer of the materials specified to be laminated or adhered. Adhesives that will fade, discolor, or delaminate as a result of proximity to ultraviolet light sources or heat shall not be used and shall not change the color of or deteriorate the materials to which they are applied. The adhesives shall have a non-staining, non-yellowing quality, and all visible joints shall be free from air bubbles and other defects.

6. Sign faces must be left clean and free of glue or other foreign material. Edges are to be routed smooth and straight. All corners shall be 90 degrees with crisp, clean edges.

ELECTRICAL

1. All electrical fixtures, materials, and installations shall be UL approved and must meet all local codes. The shop drawings must indicate electrical services required and location for review by ka, Inc.

2. All lighting fixtures/sources shall emit a color balanced, consistent uniform light with no browning, flickering, haloing, or other uneven effect. All external sign faces must be washed with an even lighting, unless otherwise specified for that particular sign type. All internally illuminated signage conditions shall use double stroke neon to provide even and adequate illumination.

3. All transformers and electrical hardware shall be concealed, non-audible and non-visible to pedestrian and vehicular traffic. No electrical apparatus, such as an electrical disconnect box or power meter, shall be attached to the exterior of the sign unit, unless otherwise specified.

4. The Sign Contractor is to coordinate with ka, Inc. and the General Contractor to ensure that adequate and proper electrical power is run to each of the lighted signs. The Sign Contractor shall provide, at the earliest possible time, the specific electrical requirements (if any) to the ka, Inc. and the General Contractor. A determination of the junction box location must also be coordinated with ka, Inc. and the General Contractor. The Sign Contractor shall provide only the installed electrical fixtures and adequate electrical leads to facilitate electrical hookup. The General Contractor shall provide the electrical source, circuitry and any in-line electrical apparatuses (such as timers, photocell switches, etc.) up to the sign, unless otherwise specified. Connection of the sign to the power source is the responsibility of the Sign Contractor.

5. Provide new electrical components and respective lamps, so as to be easily repaired or replaced from local available stock (24 hour maximum turn around).

6. The Sign Contractor to provide ka, Inc. and the General Contractor with complete lamp replacement information brand, type, wattage, color, etc., for all lighted components. This information shall be in type written format (8-1/2" x 11") and shall indicate at least one local (site) supplier.

7. All electrical components used in exterior applications are to be of the type recommended by the manufacturer for wet locations.

3. All structural and surface fabrication shall be of aluminum with the exception of structural steel poles for support.

4. Provide aluminum sheets of alloy and temper recommended by the aluminum producer or finisher for the type of use and finish indicated, and with not less than the strength and durability properties specified in ASTM B109 for 5005-H15.

5. Provide aluminum extrusions of alloy and temper recommended by the aluminum producer or finisher for the type of use and finish indicated, and with not less than the strength and durability properties specified in ASTM B-221 for 6063-T5.

PAINT AND FINISHES

1. All painted surfaces are to be Catalyst Hardened Acrylic Polymer using a Base Coat-Clear system. Samples are to be provided as noted above. Only the highest grade coatings are to be used to prevent abnormal deterioration such as cracking, peeling, crazing and discoloration. Finishes should not fade or discolor when exposed to ultra violet light.

2. All coatings shall be compatible with the surface to which they are applied. All finish applications are to be smooth and uniform, applied according to manufacturer's recommendations and the highest industry standards.

3. Color breaks on the sign surface are to be sharp, without serration or color bleed. All drips, splatters, and over sprays are to be removed.

4. All brushed and satin finished aluminum surfaces are to be consistent and uniform for all of the signs within the program.

5. Coatings are to accurately match the colors specified or color swatches furnished by ka, Inc. and the General Contractor. A sample of each color using theactual coating type must be submitted to ka, Inc. and the General Contractor for approval prior to production.

6. The cured coating surface is to have a uniform finish that matches the specified color and finish.

7. Exact identification of all coatings shall be called out on the shop drawings and a description of the method of application.

8. All aluminum materials shall be thoroughly sanded to remove oxidation and primed prior to painting to ensure maximum paint adhesion.

9. Primer coats or other surface pretreatment, where recommended by the manufacturer for inks and paints, shall be included as part of the finished surface work at no extra cost to the owner.

2. There shall be no bare aluminum in contact with any other materials. Contact surfaces are to be insulated by zinc chromate, a heavy bituminous paint, or a gasket.

ALUMINUM

1. Aluminum thickness shall be .125" minimum unless otherwise noted on the Bid Drawings, however, it is the responsibility of the Sign Contractor to recommend and use material of a thickness sufficient to prevent "oil canning" and warping of the surface.

ACRYLIC

1. Where sheet material is indicated as a "color," provide a color translucent sheet of density required to produce uniform brightness without halo effects. Material provided shall be appropriately matched to the intended permanent field conditions.

2. Where sheet material is indicated as "clear," provide a colorless sheet in a gloss finish, with transmittance of 92%, where tested in accordance with the requirements of ASTM D-1103.

FASTENERS

1. Unless otherwise indicated, use concealed fasteners fabricated from metals that are non-corrosive so they will not cause the corrosion of signage materials or the mounting surface. Any exposed fasteners required must be indicated on the shop drawings and submitted for approval prior to fabrication.

TYPOGRAPHY AND ARTWORK

1. The Sign Contractor is to use the exact typeface specified. Samples of the typeface to be used are to be submitted to assure accuracy of the letterforms. All required copy layouts and text for signs are the responsibility of the Sign contractor installing the sign. All enlarging and reducing is the responsibility of the Sign Contractor.

2. Silk-screen a. All photo silk-screened topography and graphics are to be sharp (without serrated or irregular edges) and exactly true to the letter style and design form.b. For the best results, when silk-screening on a Catalyst Hardened Acrylic Polymer coating, it should be done within 72 hours of the coating application.

3. Precision machine cut vinyl lettersa. All machine cut vinyl typography and graphics are to be of high-grade, self-adhesive 3M Company Scotch-Brand vinyl (unless otherwise noted). The application of all vinyl characters is to be smooth without bubbles, ridges, or other imperfections. Application techniques must follow manufacturers' recommendations.b. Surface coatings should be allowed to dry for a minimum of three to four days before applying vinyl letters or graphics. This shall be done to avoid bubbles forming in the vinyl from out-gassing of the curing coating.c. All vinyl typography (including letters, arrows, numbers, symbols, logos, etc.) to be photographically reproduced and computer processed (digitized or scanned) and machine cut. Only in exceptional cases is hand cutting, or handlettering permitted. This shall be noted in the Graphic Design Intent Drawings.

6. The Sign Contractor is responsible for using and obtaining the exact typeface or typefaces specified by ka, Inc. If the Sign Contractor is unsure of a typeface's identity, then he must resolve the problem with ka, Inc.

7. Symbols, logos, etc., produced from vinyl are to be from digital artwork and machine cut.

8. All die cutting shall be executed in such a manner that all edges and corners of finished letterforms are true and clean. All die cuts must adhere for a period of one year or will be replaced and reinstalled by the signage contractor free of charge. Engineer grade reflective material or equal shall be used on exterior signs.

9. All baselines shall be horizontal on the sign face. Margins must be maintained as specified in the drawings.

ADA REQUIREMENTS

1. All signs are to meet ADA requirements for compliance.

2. Permanent room signs require grade two Braille. Type and symbols required to be raised must be raised a minimum of 1/32".

3. Interior door signs must be mounted 60" from finish floor to the center of the sign and on the latch side of the door.

4. Characters and background on ADA signage shall be eggshell, matte or other non-glare finish.

5. The Sign Contractor is responsible for insuring that all ADA signage is in full compliance.

FABRICATION

1. All sign faces are to be smooth and even, free from imperfections and disfiguring caused by such things as welding, material being too thin, fasteners, welds not being ground smooth, "oil canning," puckering, or any other problems not specifically mentioned here.

2. Climatic conditions of the site must be considered and the sign units designed and engineered to prevent problems caused by weather, expansion and contraction, condensation, and any other possible problems resulting from exposure to the elements. For exterior freestanding sign soil conditions, water table levels, wind load requirements, overhead power lines, setback requirements, etc., must be considered.

10. Painted surfaces are to be resistant to cracking, peeling, scratching, and fading. A polyurethane coating shall be applied over the screened messages and metallic surfaces (bronze, stainless steel, brass, etc.) to seal the paint and preserve the surface from wear and oxidation.

11. All inks and paints shall be evenly applied without pinholes, scratches, orange peeling, application marks and other imperfections. Workmanship, finishes and formation of letters shall conform to the highest standards of the trade.

4. Finished black and white, film positive artwork for all symbols and other custom designed graphic components, such as logos, logotype and arrowheads used for all sign types shall be furnished or specified by ka, Inc. in digital file format for reproduction. All enlarging and reducing is the responsibility of theSign Contractor.

5. ka, Inc. must resolve conflicting information, such as a message too long for a required format. It is imperative that the Sign Contractor does not resolve these kinds of discrepancies on his own.

4. All finished units shall be smooth, free from abrasion, burrs, sharp edges, tool marks, visible welds, exposed fasteners, or similar defects. All corners, reveals, and joints shall be milled to match adjoining pieces and shall be fabricated so that they are straight and/or configured to match the specification drawings. Defects of any sort shall not be tolerated.

5. No brake bending and forming of the exterior sign corners shall be allowed except as noted. All aluminum parts are to be saw-cut. All external welds are to be continuous, filled and ground smooth so the finish seams are not apparent when the unit is completed. Internal welds shall be structurally sound and eliminate racking. Joints and seams are to be minimized by using the largest sheet size reasonably available.

6. There shall be no bare aluminum in contact with any other metals, woods, or concrete. Contract surfaces shall be separated by a coating of zinc chromate and aluminum paint or by a heavy body bituminous paint or by a gasket.

7. Provide internal galvanized or primed and painted structural steel as required to meet the requirements of the permanent installation.

PRODUCT HANDLING, DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION

1. All units shall be packaged for protection during shipping, storage and installation.

2. Anchoring devices are to be adequate types of non-corrosive materials for securing signs to in-place structures.

3. Signs applied to wall tile vertical surfaces must be mounted to coordinate/align with horizontal and vertical grout lines in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

4. Prior to installation, the Sign Contractor, General Contractor, ka, Inc. and an Owner's Representative will conduct a final walk through to stake out all sign locations. The Sign Contractor shall include this date in the production schedule to be submitted. The Sign Contractor is responsible for providing all materials and equipment necessary to properly locate and document the exact sign placement in the field. The Sign Contractor must provide the General Contractor with a detailed installation. If the Sign Contractor believes that the final installation date cannot be met because of incomplete architectural construction or finishes, or conflict with other trades, he/she must submit a report to ka, Inc. and the General Contractor that outlines the specified areas of concern at least two weeks prior to the final installation deadline.

8. Hooks, etc., used for installing structures are to be removed upon completion.

9. Upon completion of the installation of each sign, the Sign Contractor shall clean all soiled sign surfaces and touch up any flaws or marring caused during installation. All signage is to be clean and free of glue, tape, or other extraneous materials. If marred areas cannot be adequately touched-up on site, the sign(s) will be returned to the shop for controlled refinishing.

10. All debris relating to signage installation must be removed from the areas of the project after completion of the installation phase.

11. After installation, the Sign Contractor shall coordinate with the Landscape Contractor who will make the finish grade adjustment and install the landscaping.

12. The General Contractor, Owner's Rep, and ka, Inc. will conduct a post installation inspection of the sign units only after all sign units are installed. To prevent damage to the sign units between installation and final review the Sign Contractor must take precautions to protect the individual sign units. In addition, the Sign Contractor must provide ka, Inc. and the General Contractor with a detailed installation schedule and completion time so that the final review can be conducted in a timely manner. Liability for sign units damaged between installation and General Contractor's review shall be resolved between the Sign Contractor, ka, Inc. and the General Contractor.

13. It is required that the Sign Contractor be present for a final walk through and punch out inspection of the installed program.

14. The Sign manufacturer's installation superintendent shall be present at all times that work is being done on site, with the time of work as outlined and coordinated with ka, Inc. and the General Contractor.

3. Weep holes, venting of heat, heat sinks for electrical elements, etc., shall be considered by the Sign Contractor per sign type and provided as required and/or as necessary. Weep holes, vents, access panels and other functional, but non-aesthetic components must be placed to be as inconspicuous as possible. All such items must be shown on the shop drawings and submitted for approval. The fasteners for the access panel must be countersunk and have the heads of the fasteners paint filled to match the adjacent panel color.

5. The Sign Contractor is responsible for calculating adequate below-grade concrete foundations and stabilizing plate requirements. A safe and sound installation that is well within the wind-load stress standards and permit requirements for this project site must be achieved and is the ultimate responsibility of the Sign Contractor. In addition, the composition of all below grade foundations and materials must take into consideration the soil content/composition that occurs on the project site. Owner will provide a Geotechnical Report/Statement for the Sign Contractor’s use in designing the monument sign footings to confirm allowable foundation bearing capabilities.

6. All signs are to be installed level, plumb, and true. The Sign Contractor is responsible for the safe, secure, and proper installation of all sign units.

7. The Sign Contractor is responsible for matching the sign's electrical service available on site to the requirements of the sign, including the transformers or ballasts.

CBL BRANDING GUIDELINES ON MALL DOORS

LETTERING PLACEMENT FOR MALL HOURS AND CBL LOGOPlace hours and ‘Non-Smoking Environment’ symbols to the left and right of all doors and place the logo to the lower right of the entrances (white lettering only).

MALL HOURSLettering is to be as close to eye level as possible with ‘Non-Smoking Environment’ to be no closer than 4” from any cross brace or door handle.

Mall hours and ‘No Smoking’ lettering to be placed on the glass panel directly to the left and right of the far outside doors unless there is not a panel, the panelis obstructed or the panel is too small for lettering to fit in a visually effective way.

CBL & ASSOCIATES PROPERTIES, INC. LOGOLogo to be placed on the far right glass panel 18” from the sidewalk grade to the bottom of the website lettering. However, if a large glass frame exists at the bottomof the glass panel, height from sidewalk should be adjusted so website lettering is no less than 6” from frame.

If far right glass panel is obstructed from view, move logo in toward doors to a panel that is not obstructed using the glass panel that the mall hours lettering is on if necessary.
