"Siding color trends are slow tochange because the trends them-selves are long-term," saysVerlodt. "They often begin in fash-ion or accessory colors, then neu-tralize over time and become pop-ular home colors."

Some color trends are regional,such as sandy colors in theSouthwest, or bright, tropical col-ors in Florida. Currently, a socialmovement is influencing thehottest home color trend nation-wide. People throughout theUnited States are choosing shadesof green siding and paint for theirhomes because of the color's asso-ciation with the environment.

Identifying color trends forhomes involves investigatingother industries such as fashion,cars and interior home colors.Within the last 10 years, the vari-ety of home color options hasgrown immensely due toincreased technological capabili-ties.
