\ HISTORY \ WHY BBA\ OUR VALUES

Now is your chance to be a part of the most innovative social venture in the hospitality industry ! Differentiate yourself from the competition by supporting this social initiative with a diverse and skilled team.

Bartending with a difference.

With overcrowded prisons and a 50% unemployment rate in South Africa, it is difficult for female former inmates to secure a sustainable income. At Beyond Bars, we give these women hope in the form of specialised, sponsored bartending training. This not only gives them the qualifications they need to enter the job market, but equips them with the life skills they need to thrive as they re-enter society.

We are a bartending school with a social conscience. Through our individualised courses, we help individuals and former inmates pursue a career in bartending.

‘‘ Creating careers for ex-offenders ‘‘

With the help of your sponsorships, ex-inmates can attend our Hospitality Rehabilitation Program. This social dimension to our offering breaks the stigma attached to ex-offenders.

For many of these women, their lived experiences are cha-racterised by layer upon abuse, loss, financial and emotional isolation and damaged social bonds. The cumulative effect of this context has limited their perceptions of the opportunities the world offers to them.

Through our business and outreach work, we aim to fulfil the following objectives :

• Secure a future through prison education• Educate responsible brand ambassadors• Reduce recidivism rate of ex-offenders from 47% to 10% in three years• Fight unemployment peak amoang young people• Reduce the gender gap in the hospitality trade• Provide a sustainable solution to individuals often left behind

‘‘ Combining social consciousness with training excellence ‘‘

Beyond Bars aims to fight the stigma surrounding ex-offenders, while providing top quality training from leading global teachers such as: Steve Schneider (Employees Only NYC/Singapour), Ann Tuennermann (Tales of the cocktails), Remy Savage (The Little Red Door) and Nick Koumbarakis (Bacardi MEA).

We create lasting solutions that help reduce the number of re-offenders. We do this by upskilling former inmates or civilians to become bartenders through three different types of training :

\ WHAT WE ARE DOING \ OUR PROGRAMS \ INITIATIVES

04

1\ Beyond Bars Project

Through this social program, we select and sponsor 10 former inmates each year. This includes accommodation and an apprenticeship salary.

3\ Masterclass

These courses are open to companies and individuals who are eager to learn the art of cocktail makingAll our courses follow The Five Pillars method, incorporating theory, practice, WSET level 1, life skills and community service.

2\ The social bespoke bartending experience (SBBE)

This public course allows students to pick and mix theircourses based on five educational pillars, so they can create a training program that caters to their strengths and speed of learning.
