Through constant research at PRAMAC Group’s R&D
department, the first PRAMAC generator with inverter
technology has been developed. This new technology
makes it possible to produce a consistent power
output, independent of the load or the speed of the
engine. This is made possible by using an electronic
converter (inverter) that separates the correlation of
the input and output voltage. The alternator, unlike
a traditional type, has a permanent magnetic current
and works with an electronic device that monitors
and controls the speed of the engine, maintaining the
speed at a low level when there is no power demand
and increasing it according to requested power.

WHAT IS A GENERATOR SET?
Alternator Engine
Fitted with IP23 protection and complying with safety requirements of directive 89/336 concerning electromagnetic compatibility.
Generators are available with unleaded petrol or diesel engines, with recoil or electric start, chosen from the most respected manufactures and brands in the world.
Sockets Frame/canopy
Fitted with Schuko, CEE or other types (according to model and power output), all fitted with IP44 protection.
Welded tubular or sheet steel; particularly strong and durable, treated with epoxy paint for a long lasting and resilient finish.
Used as an alternative power source for emergencies, industrial or domestic use where mains network
power is not available.
EmergencyAs a solution to interruptions in mains power supply and black-outs where a temporary lack of power
can be dangerous or inconvenient.
Industrial and DomesticGenerators are ideal for all professional, domestic and hobby applications where mains electricity is
not available.
Particular attention is given to the safety for the users of PRAMAC generators. IP44 protection fitted
to the sockets. IP23 protection fitted to the alternators; thermal, electromagnetic or differential
(according to model) electric protection to safeguard loads from overload or short circuit. The careful
selection of high quality components (engines, alternators, electric and electronic components)
assures the maximum performance in all situations. PRAMAC generators are available (according to
model) with recoil or electric start, and some models are available with an automatic mains failure
device in case of temporary cut in mains power supply.
To substantiate the attention and focus of our
company to the noise environmental impact of
our products, during 2002, a Semi-Anechoic
chamber was created, in collaboration with the
University of Florence, within our production
facility in Casole d’Elsa. This will allow us
to verify and certify that all PRAMAC Group
products follow all directives in force in terms
of noise.

The objective to exceed the needs of the end consumer can only be achieved if the quality
of the products offered is extremely high. The PRAMAC Group has taken this as a philosophy
in the production of its products. The continual improvement in the processes used by the
company, planned with absolute respect for the environment and the specialised training of
its staff, form part of the Total Quality program that the company has set. There is a real and
proper Quality Culture within the company, starting from respect for the environment and regard for specific
regulations concerning this area. Evidence of this commitment can be proven through the achievements and
certificate awarded to the company on both a European level and internationally further a field.
The same attention is given to all phases of production,
with tight and strict quality controls maintained at all
times. All generators are tested one by one at the end
of the assembly line before being carefully packed and
stored ready for delivery.

A motor pump can be used in all situations where it is necessary to move a great quantity of water in
effective and efficient way. Pumps are chosen by the application and location:
CLEAR WATER: For regular uses with clear water. Ideal for fish breeding, swimming pools and
similar.
TRASH: For intensive or emergency uses with clear or dirty water (with solid components such as
sand, mud, gravel, rubble etc.).
It is then necessary to determine the requested flow according to the use, and then the head. This
is the total height between the level of water to move up (distance between water and pump called
aspiration high cannot be more than eight metres) and the highest point where the same water will be
downloaded (distance between pump and the highest level is called height of flow).
We also need to consider possible leaks of load due to pipes, elbows, valves etc. that are reducing the
total head. To be able to chose the most suitable water pump for the application, it is useful to refer
to the diagram showing the curve of flow/pressure or total head. Flow is described as the intended
quantity of water moved, measured in m³/hour or litres/minutes, and total head described the height of
a theoretical vertical column of water the pump itself would be able to produce.

WHAT IS A WELDER GENERATOR?A welder generator is based upon a standard generator, driven by a diesel or petrol engine, coupled with
an electric generator; set to produce AC electric power (using a single or three phase alternator) which is
then (some models use a rectifier) transformed to DC to produce high current, low voltage as required for
welding operations.
The most important change from a conventional generator is the use of an asynchronous alternator in
order to obtain the most suitable fluent energy with low voltage as this is the most important condition of
welding quality.
The AC output current is converted to DC using diodes and after that regulated to be used in welding with
the following systems:
• Through the control of engine speed
• Electronic adjustment through a rectifier diode bridge controlled by thiristors.
The first system, extremely simple, is used in the low power machines (up to 230A) while the second is
used for the professional applications (300, 350 e 400A) where higher currents are required.

GLOSSARY OF TERMS
Voltage: Potential difference between two points into an electric circuit. Is measured in Volt (V)
Current: Intensity of electrons crossing an electric circuit. Is measured in Ampere (A)
Resistance: Resistance existing in a circuit against the electron flow. Is measured in Ohm (Ω))
Power: Electric power generated or absorbed by an electric equipment in a certain time. Is measured
in Watt (W) or Volt-Ampere (VA) (see power factor)
Frequency: How many times an alternated current reverses its sense per second. Is measured in
Hertz (Hz)
Power factor: Relation between active power (W) and apparent power (VA). Shows the phase
difference between voltage and current and depending from the characteristics of equipments. Is a
pure number, indicated with cosfi.
Power factor is shown on the identification plate of the equipment.
Absorbed power can be calculated as follows:
Single phase W = V x A x cosϕ (power factor)
Three phase W = 3 x V x A x cosϕ (power factor)

VA Apparent power supplied or absorbed by an electric equipment (1 kVA = 1000 VA)
COP = Continuous power that a generator is able to supply
LTP = Maximum power that a generator is able to supply
To obtain the active power in W (or kW) it is necessary to multiply the value of cosϕ (power factor) by
the apparent power in VA (or kVA)
For a single phase voltage: 1000 VA x cosϕ 0,9 = 900 W – 1 kVA x cosϕ 0,9 = 0,9 kW
For a three phase voltage: 1000 VA x cosϕ 0,8 = 800 W – 1 kVA x cosϕ 0,8 = 0,8 kW
In case of cosϕ 1, values in VA and W are identical
IP DEGREES OF PROTECTION
According to the regulations EN 60529 and EN 60529/A1 defining the degree of protection of the
casing of electric equipments with a nominal voltage not exceeding 72,5 kV. The first two values
indicate: the first digit the degree of protection against external solid bodies and against the possible
access to dangerous parts. The second digit the level of protection against the penetration of liquids.
Examples: IP23 - IP44
A high pressure washer has the power to turn any water source into a high pressure water jet that can
be used for many applications. It can be used to clean and de-scale any type of dirt, car-washing,
workshops, agriculturally, food factories, site use; these are just examples of how useful these
machines can be.

GUIDELINES FOR THE APPLICATION OF THE DIRECTIVE 2000/14/EC The directive 2000/14/EC dated 8th may, 2000 aims to harmonise the laws of the Member States
relating to noise emission standards, conformity assessment procedures, marking, technical
documentation and collection of data concerning the noise emission in the environment of equipment
for outdoor use.
The parameter adopted by this directive for the evaluation of the noise emission level is the Sound Power Level; this identifies the sound emissions of the considered source (the generator), measured in
decibels (dB).
Alternatively, the generic indication of noise level refers to the Acoustic Pressure Level depending, as
well as from the sound energy emitted by the source, on the distance of reading (is to be expressly
specified – usually 7m). This is also measured in decibels (dB).
The two parameters are not independent. The Sound Power Level can be calculated in relation to the
Acoustic Pressure.

The limits imposed by this directive relate to the Guaranteed Sound Power Level that, as opposed to
the Measured Sound Power Level, takes into consideration all the uncertainties that may arise from
production changes or different measurement procedures.
The following table shows the limits fixed by the directive for generators and motor welders.

Sound emission limits depend on the power of the generator. The
reduction of the mentioned limits will happen in two phases (the
first in year 2002, the second in 2006).
The Directive 2000/14/EC also requires that the producer marks
the generator; specifying the Guaranteed Sound Power Level: the
indication of the guaranteed sound power level must consist of the
single-number of the guaranteed sound power in dB, the sign ‘LWA’
and a specified symbol.

HOW TO SELECT A GENERATOR ACCORDING TO THE REQUIRED POWER
The following pages explain the maximum power rating, expressed in Watts, which each generator is
able to supply according to the applied load. Values are purely indicative and may be slightly higher or
lower according to the specific application.
To chose the right PRAMAC generator for your requirements, simply follow these simple steps:
1) Select the necessary power to feed desired equipment,
2) Determine if the load is resistive or inductive,
3) Select the more suitable PRAMAC generator to be used
RESISTIVE LOADSThese are constituted by one or more resistors i.e. electrical components characterised by a resistance
that under a certain voltage generates heat. Example: an electric oven, a stove, a bulb, an iron.
INDUCTIVE LOADS Mainly characterised by the presence of inductances i.e. electrical components that generates
electromagnetic energy.
Voltage and current (having a sinusoidal trend) are out of phase i.e. They reach the maximum value in
two different moments: the angular distance between the two moments determine the phase difference
between voltage and current. Example: a fan, a drill, a pump, an air compressor, a concrete mixer.

P Class Petrol: Silent Power
The ideal generator for use in residential areas or outside
normal working hours. Low noise levels, built in plug for
AMF or remote control, mean that this generator is equipped
and ideal for use as a domestic back up power supply or for
professional users in residential areas.
AMF (Automatic Mains Failure) is a feature that enables the user to configure the generator to take over as power supplier if the primary source is cut. This will guarantee continuous power through a seamless changeover and power-up. This is an essential feature of any back up generator set.

ZG Class 1500 / 3000 rpm: Energy for Agriculture
These generators provide an economic way to supply electricity
to any part of your agricultural land. Using the pto shaft of a
tractor, the ZG class generator can produce high quality power
for any agricultural use.
Through a simple coupling with the tractor’s PTO shaft, the generator is activated.
1 single phase socket, 1 three phase socket – both fitted with I P44 thermal protection – maximum safety for maximum power.
