    Why India

Police safety, fitness, training, welfare and rescue managementhas witnessed an increasing focus in the recent past years. Whilethis gets reflected in the increased budgetary allocation forsecurity, protection and rescue expenditure, Ministry ofHome Affairs (MHA) has also sought to create physicaland policy-level framework for long term development ofsecurity and police safety infrastructure. Though in lastfew years an incredible growth has been recorded, but

still a lot much work has to be done for a strong, safeand secure policing in India. Indian police equipmentsand accessories industry has begun taking note of thepotential growth opportunity by aligning itself to emergingtechnology requirements. Private sector has played a significantrole in meeting the requirement of the police and other securityforces in various countries including India. India is also witnessing atransitional phase where Indian government has allowed a cap of49% FDI in defense and police. The budget allocation by Ministry ofHome Affairs, Government of India for the year 2013-14 has beenamplified up to mark of 10 billion and is predicted to see CAGR(Compounded Average Growth Rate) of 15% approximately. This will elevate thisindustry for a total worth of USD 18.8 billion by 2017-18.

India is bounded by oceans through three sides, its long coastline, continentaldimensions, large permeable land borders, and different cultural and other factorsincluding security and defense, economic, political and demographic pictureportrays a complex security challenge among the nation. The central and stategovernments identified modernization and up gradation as one of the key focusarea besides creating a supporting infrastructure for them on long term basis. TheMinistry of Home Affairs has targeted substantial development of Indiashomeland security infrastructure, like creation of a centralized comprehensivedatabase called National Information Grid (NATGRID) by combining the individualdatabases of several government agencies, setting up of the CCTNS (Crime and

Criminal Tracking network and Systems) and modernization programs forproviding better equipment and training to the security and police forces deployedwith the task of internal security in India. In a recent positive move, Indiangovernment is also planning to increases the FDI to 49% from 24% for defenceand police equipment which portrays India as best business destination forequipments, arms and other allied industries.
