Campania Innovazione is the Regional Agency for Research and Innovation Promotion

Campania Innovazione promotes and manages the Regional Research Innovation System by supporting the dissemination and the exploitation of research processes within industrial domain and the technology transfer for innovation and competitiveness of Campania business system. The Agency also works as a techno-structure facility for regional programmes management.

Campania Innovazione aims at fostering economic development processes, based on technology transfer to SMEs, by creating a stable ecosystem in the region to support innovation, research and regional competitiveness. The Agency allows entrepreneurs and researchers to access to a wide network of expertise, in terms of developing technologies and information services and guidance to support the creation, the development and strengthening of innovative start-ups, spin-off and traditional SMEs. A double goal, therefore: create a consolidate network of innovation intermediaries, through a streamlining and mainstreaming action of the overall system, and promote “Research and Innovation System”.

Research and Innovation are key factors to encourage the competitive development of a region. Each european region is seeking its own path to development by exploiting the capabilities of local resources to generate knowledge for products and services innovation. Within Southern Italy, Campania is in an uncommon situation. It is both the third Italian largest region, in size and activities in research and higher education, and the main research hub in Italian Mezzogiorno. From 2007 to 2013 Campania has been qualified as the Italian region devoting the greatest amount of resources in public Research & Development activities. On its territory are based 7 Universities, 40 advanced Research Institutes, 10 Competence Centres, 1 Technology District, 5 Business Incubators and 2 Science and Technology Parks. On the side of the business system, the numbers show more than 38 thousands non-manufacturing enterprises, of which 7 thousand exporting abroad. A region, therefore, with a high potential to support innovative processes. To strengthen and support the connection among regional innovation actors, firstly researchers and entrepreneurs, Campania Region has instituted Campania Innovazione S.p.A., the Regional Agency for Research and Innovation Promotion. The Agency aims to create a network of multiple connections between research and enterprise system, and to coordinate among all the actors involved into creation of innovative startups, finance for innovation, technology transfer, participation in European Programmes and International Networking. Campania Innovazione, therefore, is committed to build an integrated system, certifying facilities and players, offering advanced services to enterprises and research groups involved in technology transfer activities. Its main target is made up of researchers and SMEs, the two innovation actors, who cannot share development of skills by themselves and, therefore, they need to lean on an exoskeleton to absorb cost competitive knowledge and technologies they need. Campania Innovazione Agency is born to build this exoskeleton. Once completed, the whole regional system will benefit.
