This area is the cornerstone of revitalization efforts to “original Westminster”.  Westminster Economic Development Authority (WEDA) has worked with developers to rebuild over 30-acres with another 250-acres under discussion.  The first major redevelopment, Westminster Plaza, is a 110,000sf development anchored by Safeway.

Neighboring retail tenants include Wells Fargo, Wendy’s, and Walgreens. Other redevelopment projects in the immediate area include the Irving Street Public Library and Park; and in 2011 a renovation of the McDonald’s on the site immediately to the south.

In conjunction with redevelopment efforts, the area has benefited from completion of major transportation infrastructure improvements.  CDOT recently completed a three-year, $16.5 million project that widened the Federal Blvd. bridge and upgraded the full-access interchange adjacent to the subject property.  Additionally, CDOT has provided for 3.5 miles of HOV lanes from Federal Blvd to I-25 along US 36.
