When a Hospital is Not an Answer... Ashley Montagu, a social critic, once said “The idea is to die young as late as possible”. At Sharon Palliative Care Centre, we believe in this idea and embrace it wholeheartedly. As a healthcare organization, we specialize in improving the quality of life of patients diagnosed with terminal illness. And as a caring community of doctors, volunteers, and donors, we meet their emotional, social, and spiritual needs, helping them feel young and liberated till the end. When your loved one is diagnosed with a terminal illness, you are left with no option but to let her spend the last days in the intensive care units of hospitals, knowing well that hospitals cut her off from the things that matter most to her, which includes being with the family members. Not necessarily. When a hospital is not an answer, give a thought to our palliative care centre, an interdisciplinary healthcare centre that improves the quality of life of patients suffering from terminal illness. As a loving community of doctors, donors and volunteers, we provide them holistic care and help them feel positive and liberated till the end. Creating Liberating Experiences Our mission is to provide patient-centered and family-oriented palliative care and support. We seek to inform and act on the decisions of patients and their families and create liberating experiences for them by alleviating their sufferings; providing them relief from pain and distressing symptoms; and empowering them to live as active a life as possible.

Creating Liberating Experiences

Our mission is to provide patient-centered and family-oriented palliative care and support. We seek to inform and act on the decisions of patients and their families and create liberating experiences for them by alleviating their sufferings; providing them relief from pain and distressing symptoms; and empowering them to live as active a life as possible.

Why Sharon?

Our approach: We stand for a more humane and interpretive style of medicine. Run by a multi-professional team of doctors and nursing staff, trained and certified in pain and palliative care, our centre follows recommended standards of good practices in pain management, clinical assessment, and patient counseling/communication.

Our core services: We offer pain management including minor surgeries when required to help patients manage pain. Our medical interventions ensure symptomatic relief from breathlessness, inability to eat or take care of themselves, bedsore care, and infection care.

The human touch: We provide a warm and caring environment, exhibiting a friendly attitude towards our patients; show compassion with tangible acts of love and service to them, and restore a sense of meaning to their life.

Our facilities: We are located at the foothills of Yercaud, a hilly region known for its pleasant weather and natural environment. We have a well-equipped operation theatre for immediate palliative surgeries, rooms/wards with the comforts of a home for patients who require extended-stays, special catering to meet the unique dietary requirements of patients, therapy room for physiotherapy and recreational activities; and a garden within the premises.

Domiciliary Care

We also have a dedicated domiciliary care team to provide home-based care to terminally ill patients after discharge.
