LUNT provides four ISDN “U” interfaces on the MSAP2000 platform. LUNT is installed at the COT end, to provide an ISDN basic rate interface (BRI) for the ISDN switch. LUNT’s counterpart is LULT, which is located at the RT end. The LUNT BRI module will fit in any of the slots from 1 ~ 16 on the MSAP2000 shelf. LUNT provides an interface for the ISDN switch with 2B1Q ( 2 binary 1 quaternary) line coding, for full-duplex transmission. The LUNT interface can extract timing information from the switch, and send it to MPM for clock synchronization. All traffic originated from each LUNT can be multiplexed into a SDH STM-1/4 optical link. With fiber to the building (FTTB) and fiber to the curb (FTTC) infrastructures, MSAP2000 is able to extend its ISDN BRI service area to as far as up to 50 km.

LULT provides four ISDN “U” interfaces on the MSAP2000 platform. LULT is installed at the RT end, to provide an ISDN basic rate interface (BRI) for ISDN NT1. LULT will fit in any of the service slots, from 1 ~ 16, and it serves as an interface for the ISDN NT1 with 2B1Q (2 binary 1 quaternary) line coding, for full-duplex transmission. LULT provides remote power feeding for NT1, ranging from 90V ~110 V. LULT transfers 2B+D-channel signals as a number of 64 kbps signals. At the Central Office terminal, LUNT will regenerate the 2B+D signal for relay to the ISDN switch. As with LUNT, the EOC channel allows the User to conduct remote OAM&P functions such as fault, performance, configuration, and alarm management. This reduces operational costs, while simultaneously delivering excellent transmission quality to customers.

The newest Ethernet over SDH Module (EoSM) has been integrated into the MSAP2000. EoSM is termed ‘CEoSM’ in the central office, and ‘REoSM’ at the remote end. CEoSM is connected directly to the networking router through the RJ45 port on its front panel, and it has one PHY/MAC to substitute for the 8 port switch. This card provides an Ethernet uplink for MASP2000 by its SDH/Ethernet inter-working. CEoSM is an Ethernet device which receives and transmits Ethernet traffic between CEoSM and the router; its bandwidth ranges from 64Kbps~100Mbps, according to individual user settings. On the MSAP2000 shelf, CEoSM and REoSM are respectively installed at the central and remote terminal, to transmit the AAMs (ADSL Access Module) Ethernet packet through the STM-1 trunk. Within other applications, CEoSM can function as a one- port Ethernet module, to transport peer to peer Ethernet traffic.
