PRODUCTSCladtech International source their requirements for composite panels from a variety of highly reputable international suppliers
and are thus able to meet architectural and engineering specifications at every level of cost and performance.
Aluminium composite panels are a superior alternative to solid aluminium sheets and offer a superb combination of light weight,
rigidity, flatness, attractive appearance and durability.
Aluminium composite panels are available in non Fire-rated and full fire-rated grades.
MATERIAL SPECIFICATION OF ACP Non fire-rated composite cladding consists of a layer of thermoplastic low density expanded polyethylene sandwiched between
two 0.5mm aluminium sheets fire-rated composite cladding consists of a non-combustible light weight mineral-based layer again
contained in a sandwich of two sheets of 0.5mm aluminium sheets.
Composite panels are therefore frequently known as “sandwich panels”
AVAILABILITY– Composite cladding panels are available in 3, 4 and 6mm thickness.
– Composite cladding panels are available in PVDF-Based paint system or Lumiflon-based paint system
– Composite cladding panels can be supplied with an additional service coating on the rear face to protect the aluminium
surface from possible corrosion in areas of poor ventilation.
– Composite cladding sheets are delivered to site, and installed, with a “Low-tack” protection film which is removed on hand-
over of the works.

COMPOSITE PANELSMANUFACTURING PROCESSThe manufacturing process involves two primary procedures
namely:
– COIL Coating is a mass-production process in which
fluorocarbon paint is applied to the continuous aluminium
sheet which is coiled in readiness for use in the composite
panels.
– LAMINATION is a process in which the expanded low
density polyethylene or mineral core is laminated under
heat and pressure between the two coated coils, thus
forming the finished ACP product, which is now ready for
delivery, in sheet form, to end-user.
FEATURES OF ACP– light weight
– flatness
– rigidity
– workability
– wide variety of colours
– uniformity of colour
COLOUR RANGE OF ACPAluminium composite sheets are available in a wide range of
standard and non-standard colours including-
– solid (enamel) colour
– metallic
– sparkling
– stone
– timber
which are adequate to meet the most demanding aesthetic
requirements of architect and property owners.

MECHANICAL PROPERTIESDifferential expansion and contraction of ACP is similar to solid
aluminium sheets and is accommodated by using aluminium
fixing systems and accessories during installation.
Since steel and concrete have somewhat lower coefficient of
linear expansion compared to ACP, this differential movement
is accommodation through provision of slotted holes in the
fixing brackets. Due to the typical folded edge-detail of ACP, it
is not easy to seal the external joints with pre-formed gaskets.
Therefore, joint-sealing is generally done with structural silicone.
However, open joints and gasket joints are available from CTI
and are explained in the following pages of this brochure.

APPLICATION ACP has becomes established as one of the most cost-effective
materials for the cladding of opaque areas in the structure
of modern buildings. It is also a frequent choice of infill for
spandrel areas of typical aluminium curtain wall. The versatility
and aesthetics of ACP assure it of a secure and long-lasting
future in contemporary architectural design, inter alia-
– Commercial and residential Towers
– Industrial buildings
– Airports
– Educational buildings
– Hotels
– Medical buildings
– Signage Applications.

The range of composite cladding is comprised mainly of three types:
– Titanium composite materials (TCM)
– Stainless Steel composite material (SCM)
– Zinc and copper composite material ( ZCM/CCM)
TCM SECTION DETAIL
Cross-section of TCM
Overall thickness: 4 mm
Titanium Composite Material is widely-used in the construction industry on account of it’s superior resistance to corrosion even in
the most aggressive environments.
TCM is a composite sandwich panel as indicated in the above sectional detail and in available in a subdued matt finished.
CTI employs specialised cutting and grooving technology especially suited to the machining and fabrication of TCM composite
cladding panels

SCM SECTION DETAIL

Stainless Steel Composite material is a high-quality architectural finish for external as well as internal applications and is available
in a range of decorative treatments including hairline finish, matt finish and mirror finish.
SCM is supplied with top quality metallurgical stainless steel alloy and is highly favoured by designers for its good appearance, low
maintenance and durability in all environments
CTI employs the same production techniques to manufacture SCM panels, as those of TCM.

FIXING METHODFABRICATION PROCESSEase of fabrication is a major benefit of a types of composite panel, especially those with one, or both, faces in aluminum.
The panels are cut and grooved by CTI using purpose made CNC machinery in our well-equipped factory. CNC control from drawing
board to factory-floor ensures a high degree of precision in the tolerances of the finished panels. These CNC automated machines
are capable of extremely high output to meet the requirements of any fast-track project.
From the following diagrams the forming process starts with cutting of a U-groove along the bending axis ( 1 ). A folding jig is then
used to bend the panel along the line of the groove (2). Prior to bending, the corners are mitred to ensure a perfectly smooth 45º
joint (3).
Where composite panels require to be curved, this is done on a 3-roll bender which can be accurately set up to provide curved
panels of exact design-radius (4).

INSTALLATION METHODS
1919
INSTALLATION METHODS
1. WET SEALANT JOINT METHODThis method is widely used in a large variety of cladding
applications. The panels are folded at the edges to form
a tray-configuration. Following mechanical attachment to
the sub-structure, the joints are filled with an expanded
polyethylene backer-rod to support the correct thickness of
the structural silicone weather-seal.
2. HANGING METHODThis is also a popular fixing method which allows for easy
and quick installation. The joints are interlocking and there is
no need for external weathering sealant. The open joints are
self-draining and the system can accomodate differential
movement in the sub-structure.
3. NARROW OPEN JOINT METHODThis method is recommended for fixing of stone or timber
patterned panels since the narrow joint presents a more
aesthetic appearance. Joints can be sealed with structural
silicone or with EPDM gaskets.
4. ROOFING APPLICATIONAluminum composite panels are extensively used to clad the
roofs of airports, stadiums and commercial buildings where
it is necessary to combine elegance and durability. The ACP
panels are typically laid on an underlying extruded aluminum
mullion which is usually self-draining, although the folded
edges of the panels are sealed with structural silicone.
5. CURTAINWALL SPANDREL AREASFolded, or flat aluminum panels containing a bonded
insulation material (eg. expanded polyethylene) are generally
required to be installed in the space between the glazed
spandrel and the edge of the concrete slab. The outer face of
the aluminum sheet is usually painted with a dark polyester
powder coat finish to ensure that there is no risk of "Read-
Through" of the back-pan when viewed from the exterior.
6. SUN SHADES AND CANOPIESAluminum composite panels can shaped to fit a wide variety
of canopy-configurations giving a smooth, permanent and
aesthetically-pleasing finish from all angles.
