    Week of May 28, 2012

The Williams School works with each child to build an enduring foundation

for academic, moral, and social success. Williams School students embody

integrity, confidence, discipline, and a love of learning.

    Dear Williams School Families,

At the spring sports banquet this week we inducted two alums into The Williams School Sports Wall of

Fame. Marquis Evans (08) and Caroline Herre (08) both will graduate from Norfolk Academy this year.

Caroline will be attending UVA (did I mention, she is a Jefferson Scholar) and Marquis will be off to Randolph-

Macon in the fall. We are very proud of all of our graduates this year and were fortunate to have Marquis and

Caroline honor us at our banquet this past Wednesday. They told us what sports they had played at Williams,

what they had accomplished in sports in high school, their college plans and how none of this would have been

possible without the benefit of their time here at Williams. We wish them well as they begin a new page in their

    lives.

The Canoles Classic Golf Tournament participants were sent off by our

kindergarteners with a squirt gun start. Despite this wondrous send off, MotherNature prevailed and all of our golfers returned after two holes to the clubhouse as

the inclement weather siren sounded. By 3:00PM it was apparent that golfers would

not be able to return to the green. As a result, tentative planning by the committee

for a September make-up date is in the works. Thank you to George Pegram, Eric

Miller, and Jennifer and Don Reynolds for continuing to spearhead this event and

for all of your hard work.

Over the next few weeks many things are happening. The 2012-2013 school calendar with additional

details will be distributed as an attachment with the next Broadcast. All summer reading lists can be accessed

athttp://www.thewilliamsschool.org/academic-life/summerreading.cfm. Just as we have done over the past

two years, we will again offer parents the option of ordering supplies online with the convenience of having the

supplies delivered to your childs classroom. The supply information and link will be sent out mid-July. As we

come to the end of the school year, please take the time to look over the Broadcast for information. Let us know

    if we left something out.

    Have a safe Memorial weekend!

    Melanie
