 TWENTY SEVENTH NATIONAL CONVENTION

OF AEROSPACE ENGINEERS

&

NATIONAL SEMINAR ON“Technological and Engineering Cha llenges In In dian Aerospace Industr y”

 Novemb er 8 and 9, 2013

The Twenty Seven National Convention of Aerospace Engineers will be organized by the

The Institution of Engineers (India), Uttarakhand State Centre in association with

University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) on 8 th and 9th November, 2013 along

with a National Seminar on “Technological and Engineering Challenges In Indian

Aerospace Industry” . This Seminar provides an opportunity to bring the Experts,Industrialists, Engineers and business people from Aerospace Engineering sectors,

academia and industry associations on a common platform to share their experiences,

knowledge and views, benefiting all concerned.

Present Status and Technological C hallenges of Indian Aerospace Programme

Enormous progress have been made towards indigenous Design, Development and

Production of Aircrafts, Missiles and Launch Vehicles at premier Organisations, like

Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL),

National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Defence Research

and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation

(ISRO) along with active participation of Industries and Academic Institutions. Many

multinationals are having their base in this country to utilise the expertise available in this

specialised field. Successful Flights of Aircrafts, like LCA, HANSA and SARAS,

Missiles, like PRITHVI, AGNI, BRAHMOS, SAGARIKA and Launch Vehicles, like

PSLV, GSLV and their variants used for launching national and international satellites,

Space Recovery Experiments (SRE), Moon Mission, etc. are the testimony of the

laudable progress. Further, the design and development of future Advanced Aircrafts,Tactical and Intercepting Missiles, Underwater operation of BRAHMOS, Reusable

Aerospace Vehicles, Hypersonic Research Vehicles, Manned Missions, Micro Air

vehicles, Air Breathing Engines for rockets and missiles, etc. are planned; and progress is

being made to realize in near future.

Scope

This convention aims to contribute to enrich and develop a panorama of futuristic

aerospace technologies and attain a level of stature among the Aeronautical and

Aerospace fraternity of India.

The main objective of the Convention is to discuss the recent advances and success in

Aerospace Engineering in both Civil and Defence sectors and how to face future

challenges. The recent success in aerospace technologies has set a great challenges and

opportunities for the Scientists working in this field. The requirements include the

development of advanced auto pilot to handle critical maneuvers of the aerospace

vehicle, development of high fidelity multi-disciplinary design tools, design of advanced

propulsion systems like cryogenic engines, advanced turbojet engines, scramjet, pulse

detonation engine for futuristic flight vehicle design, light weight aerospace vehicles and

smart structures. The advanced composite materials are required for aerospace vehicles towithstand high temperatures arising due to hypersonic flight. Successful culmination of

Major Aerospace R & D efforts in India highlights the need to address issues related to

Production with specific reference to participation of private sectors and entrepreneurial

initiatives.

The programme of the National Seminar will consist of Inaugural Session, Six Technical

Sessions, Panel Discussion and Valedictory Session. Dr Vikram Sarabhai Memorial

Lecture and State-of-Art Lecture will be delivered by eminent experts from the

interdisciplinary fields of Aerospace Engineering. Experts from industries and academia,

Defence organizations, R & D are being approached to deliver Invited Lectures broadly

based on the theme and following sub-themes. Besides the invited talks, a limited number

of selected technical papers are planned for presentation at the Convention.

Sub-Themes

Call for papers
