Study Abroad Alumni Assistant Brittney Kalal Swansea University – Swansea, UK Hello! My name is Brittney Kalal and I am one of four Study Abroad Alumni Assistants in the Center for International Affairs for the 2012-13 academic year. My job is to assist other students as they go through the application process and to get them excited as they prepare for their amazing journey ahead. Last year, from September 2011 until June 2012, I studied in Swansea University in Swansea, Wales- a small town about five hours away from London by bus. Wales is so beautiful because time really did seem to slow down. The people were so friendly and satisfied even though they did not have many materialistic things. It made me realize what is important in life and to not take too many things seriously. The whole atmosphere was incredibly relaxed and that allowed me to soak every moment in. The prior study abroad alumni assistants told me while I was applying that it was going to be the best year of my life. They weren’t lying! So many of my experiences were so unique in that I couldn’t have experienced them here and I met so many fantastic people that helped me discover more of myself. So many of the hardships pushed my limits and taught me that my limits can indeed be pushed and I became stronger through that process. I am not sharing you all this to boast, but to simply encourage you to apply! It has changed me so much for the better and I know it is beneficial for everyone. I want everyone to be able to experience “epic- ness” like I did and I am more than happy to turn those thoughts of studying abroad into reality! Cheers! Go Swans! CONTACT US!
