As the stage is set for the theatre’s centenary come and join
hundreds of local performers as they recreate the stories, the
shows and the stars that have appeared on the Hippodrome stage.
From twice nightly variety with greats like Gracie Fields and George
Formby, through the war years, the fire that nearly destroyed it,
and the Save the Hippo campaign in the 80’s.
We’ll take you down memory lane with a hundred years of music
from Ivor Novello to rodgers and Hammerstein, and Pantomime
to Opera. reflecting many of the premieres held there, Guys and
Dolls, The Music Man and Mary Poppins, the controversial Hair they
tried to ban, and long running musicals like Les Miserablés.
This Centenary production is performed by BlOC Productions
and BMyP and involves a multitude of local actors, singers
and dancers from 8 to 80.

A classic. A landmark. A legend.
The Mousetrap is famous around the world
as being the longest running show of any kind
in the history of theatre - with almost 25,000
performances it’s a play to be proud of. and to
celebrate 60 incredible years on stage, it’s going
on tour for the first time, with a star cast to give
you a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this
masterpiece here at the bristol hippodrome.
in her own inimitable style, Dame Agatha
Christie has created an atmosphere of
shuddering suspense and a brilliantly intricate
plot where murder lurks around every corner.
