Part of the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation’s mission is to bring the game of baseball to kids who need it most. In that spirit, the Foundation launched the Globe Life Texas Rangers Baseball and Softball Grant Program to give non-profit organizations across the Texas Rangers five-state territory

funds to continue giving kids an opportunity to play baseball. In 2014, the Rangers Foundation gave more than $100,000 in grants to organizations across Texas and Louisiana. Grant applications for 2015 are now available on texasrangers.com/grants . APPLICATIONS ARE DUE JUNE 30, 2015.

The 2015 Texas Rangers Winter Caravan, presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors, was a HUGE SUCCESS. More than 25 current and former players, Rangers executives, broadcasters, and coaches joined the caravan on several DFW-area stops, and in the surrounding areas of Shreveport, Tyler, Waco, Austin, San Antonio, Oklahoma, and Wichita Falls.

Going to Bat Against

BullyingThe Texas Rangers and first baseman Prince Fielder launched a new educational program designed to help students promote an anti-bullying environment. GOING TO BAT AGAINST BULLYING is available for use in grades 4 through 8 in Texas schools. The program has been developed by the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation in partnership with BKFK and Major League Baseball Advanced Media. The program, which is aligned to TEKS standards, will feature anti-bullying tips and ideas from Fielder along with activities designed to prevent and combat bullying. Coaching those Who CoachOn Sunday, January 25, nearly 300 youth baseball and softball coaches received a full day of priceless instruction from Rangers Manager Jeff Banister, General Manager Jon Daniels, and most of the Rangers coaching staff including Tony Beasley, Steve Buechele, Andy Hawkins, Dave Magadan, Jayce Tingler, and Jose Vazquez. During lunch, the attendees heard from Rangers alumni Tim Crabtree and Mike Jeffcoat, and Rangers EVP of Game Entertainment, Chuck Morgan. The whole day was provided to the coaches at no cost, thanks to the Texas Rangers.

Elvis Andrus hosted a Fall Festival Event at SafeHaven of Tarrant County in November, 2014. The SafeHaven mothers and children took part in apple bobbing, pumpkin decorating, and a hayride and they enjoyed a dinner catered by the Black-eyed Pea of Arlington. In addition, Elvis made a contribution to SafeHaven of Tarrant County and will be providing gift cards to the participants at the event.

Robinson Chirinos and his wife, Heidy, held a Thanksgiving event on Monday, November 24 at the Arlington Life Shelter for Thanksgiving. Chirinos provided dinner from Gabriela’s & Sofia’s Tex Mex Restaurant and also distributed scarves, hats, and gloves. He was joined by pitcher Tanner Scheppers and his wife, Jessica, and Rangers Hall of Famer Jim Sundberg. Robinson and Heidy also spread holiday cheer at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital on December 11 when they visited patients at the hospital, autographing pennants for clinical patients and handing out gift bags of caps, crayons and coloring books to inpatients. His teammate, Martin Perez and his wife, Viclena, joined the Chirinos family for the visit.

Rangers players and executives visited Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth and Children’s Health in Dallas over the holidays. As part of the visits, Derek Holland donated a Starlight Fun Center to each hospital.

To round out the holiday, Tanner Scheppers and his wife, Jessica, served as the Honorary Chairs of the Cowboy Santas Toy Drive held at Globe Life Park on the evening of December 17. They helped collect more than 6,965 toys and 50 bicycles for deserving families. The Scheppers also adopted a family and provided Christmas gifts to each person in the family.

Shin-Soo Choo partnered with the LEGOLAND Discovery Center and the Korean Amateur Sports Association of Dallas to host Korean youngsters from the Korean School Association on December 9. The youngsters participated in the activities at LEGOLAND, and received special gifts from Shin-Soo.

On Sunday, March 22, 60 participants from the Rangers Foundation just keep livin program ran down the streets of Dallas in the Rock ‘N’ Roll Half-Marathon. The race provides complimentary admission for the kids and coaches. In addition, more than 50 students and teachers operated a water stop near mile 10. The students target this race each year as a fitness goal and also use it to raise money to support the just keep livin programming in North Texas.
