COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

For whom intended

The course is intended for students of Classes IX and X who arestudying Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in recognisedschools.

Aim of the Course

The course builds a strong base effectively supplementing and expandingthe knowledge acquired in school.

Nature of the Course

The following courses are offered:

* Two-Year Target:IIT/Engg. Integrated Course: For students of Class IX.

* One-Year Target:IIT/Engg. Course-Part I: For students of Class IX.

* One-Year Target:IIT/Engg. Course-Part II: For students of Class X.

All courses are Correspondence Courses and are in the English medium only.

Despatch of Lesson Material

The course lessons will be despatched on a monthly basis for the one-year course, in 5 Sets commencing in April 2011. Despatch of lessonmaterial may be at shorter intervals for late enrolments, in order tocomplete the course on time. There will be a total of 10 lessons in eachof the subjects: Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.For the two-year course, there will be 5 sets during each year. The totalnumber of lessons will be 20, covering both years.

Supplementary learning material

In addition to the course lessons, the following supplementary materialis also provided for each of the classes, IX and X. They are: (i) Quiz(ii) A booklet titled “Makers of Modern Science” (iii) Glossary of

Technical Terms in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (iv) Practical Manualsboth in Physics and in Chemistry – all meant to increase the sum totalof the students’ knowledge of Mathematics and the Science subjects.

For Class X only

A brief resume of the Class IX course material will also be sentwith Set 1 to students of Class X enrolling for Part II only.

Assignments

Each lesson in the 4 subjects includes an assignment or exercise for thestudent to answer at home, after careful study of the lesson itself.Solutions to these assignments will also be provided in the same set, sothat the student can check his/her working against the solutions provided.

The assignments must NOT to be sent to us for correction as

the solutions are already provided to the students.

Answers to the Quiz

Answers to the Quiz are not to be sent to us. The students themselvesshould check their correctness by referring to the solutions provided.Each Set will contain some Quiz items for which answers will also beincluded.

Postal Test Papers

There will be two Tests in the one-year course and four in thetwo-year course - 2 in each year sent with Sets 3 and 5 respectively. TheTest Papers in each of the 4 subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematicsand Biology - should be answered by the students at home under strictexamination conditions, and sent to us for correction. These will beevaluated and returned with the examiners’ remarks, if any, as well asthe solutions.

Doubt Letter Scheme

If, with all the solutions provided, the student still finds any difficultyabout any specific topic of the course material, he/she can make useof our Doubt Letter Scheme. The doubts referred to us will be clearedby our Professors and returned with the correct answers. Students mustenclose their working sheets with their Doubt Letters.
