Day Two. Friday 4th May.
After a delicious breakfast at our Hotel, we’ll enjoy a morning tea cruise on the MV Paradise
Queen which cruises on Lake Mulwala and the Mighty Murray River at Yarrawonga. This is
truly an ‘Inland Aquatic Paradise’. Lake Mulwala is an unforgettable sight, lying between the
twin towns of Yarrawonga Mulwala, with its majestic and ghostly river red gums. Close to
town it is enjoyed for water skiing, sailing, swimming, canoeing, fishing and cruising.
Now we’re off to meet a local and explore the lovely town of Shepparton. SPC Ardmona is a
giant of the fruit industry and has been central to the success and growth of the region for many
years. The Goulburn River forms the backbone and lifeblood of the region. Scattered across
Greater Shepparton's parks, gardens, riverbanks and public spaces are an array of colourful,
ever changing fiberglass cows that make up the Moooving Art herd. This exhibition of life-
sized 3D fiberglass cows brings a whole new meaning to street art. Lunch at your own expense
today in Shepparton.
We’ll travel back to our Hotel in Albury through towns like Benalla. In 1974, the Broken River,
which the town lies on, was dammed, creating an attractive and wide waterway known as Lake
Benalla. Swimming and boating activities are popular on the lake which is surrounded by
parkland and walking tracks. On the western bank of the river lies the town's botanical gardens
which feature an art gallery, the Sir Weary Dunlop memorial statue and Benalla's famous rose
gardens. Dinner at our Hotel again tonight. (B) (D)

Day Three. Saturday 5th May.
We’re in for a real treat today. After brekky at our Hotel, we’ll travel through Yackandandah
and beautiful Beechworth which is sure to be awash with stunning Autumn colours.
Beechworth sits nestled in the foothills of Victoria's High Country and boasts a unique and
majestic array of heritage buildings, earning it the title of one of Victoria's best preserved gold
towns. Then we’re off to Bright where Autumn is showcased as a canvas of colour.
The town of Bright is a base for exploring the peaks of Mount Buffalo National Park and Alpine
National Park as well as Mount Hotham, a popular ski resort. Such a beautiful region. Bright
and surrounds is an area of outstanding natural beauty, of mountains and rivers, of lush fertile
valleys and picturesque historic towns. Surrounded by mountains and situated on the Ovens
River, Bright will bring the Autumn Colours to life for us.
You’ll love the Bright Autumn Festival - a ten day celebration of the wonderful autumn
colours and seasonal produce of the valleys of Victoria's Alpine High Country. We’re so lucky
to be here in Bright for Gala Day. You’ll love the Rotary Club’s Open-air markets. These
monster markets offer something for everyone – food, craft items, skin care, clothing, live
music and a wonderful atmosphere as hundreds of visitors come to town. The colourful parade
kicks off after the markets and is a wonderful celebration of the many groups that make up the
vibrant community of Bright. Time permitting, Peter will take you on a stunning scenic drive
to Mt Buffalo. Dinner at our Hotel tonight. (B) (D)

Day Four Sunday 6th May.
After another scrumptious breakfast at our Hotel, we’re hug Lake Hume and follow it on our
way to Corryong – recently seen on the ABC Show Backroads. Corryong is undoubtedly the
jewelled centre piece of the magnificent region known as the Upper Murray. Here we’ll visit
The Man From Snowy River Museum. Highlights include the Jim Simpson POW knitted rug,
a comprehensive collection of early skiing memorabilia and Jack Riley mementos and stories.
We’ll travel to Tumburumba, enjoy The Sugar Pine Walk, visit Batlow and on to Tumut, our
overnight destination. "The name Tumut is derived from an Aboriginal word meaning ‘quiet
resting place by the river’." Today the town has a population of over 6,000, a modern
cosmopolitan shopping centre and an excellent range of accommodation and activities. Much
of Tumut’s workforce is employed in the timber industry, with more jobs forecast for the
future. Dinner at our Hotel tonight. (B) (D)
Ashton Townhouse Tumut (02) 6947 1999
Day Five Monday 7th May.
We’ll leave Tumut after breakfast and head to Adelong - the heritage gateway to the Snowy
Mountains nestled on the banks of the Adelong Creek. It's verandah-lined main street is
classified by the National Trust (NSW) with some buildings dating back to the gold rush era
of the 1800's. Here we’ll visit Adelong Falls - a spectacular setting for an historic gold mining
settlement. From the lookout, you can witness the natural beauty of the place as well as its
historic remains and gold mines. The battery complex with its historic mining equipment
provides an opportunity to see how reef gold was mined. The ingenious application of raw
materials and the use of topography to enhance the gold extraction process, also makes this a
stand out gold mining site in NSW.
Oh I wish I was travelling with you as you visit The Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory –
located in the old flour mill of Junee. You can take a self-guided tour and maybe you’ll be
lucky enough to witness the creation of organic licorice and chocolate products under the brand
Green Grove Organics. But as we’re more creative souls, we’ll be making our own giant
chocolate freckle!! We’ll indulge in a scrumptious Devonshire tea in the Millroom Restaurant.
Why not try their hot chocolates made with real melted Belgium styled chocolate!
Then we’ll travel to Cootamundra - a prosperous rural service centre whose fortunes have
historically depended on its location at a major junction on the Sydney-Melbourne railway line.
It has become an evocative town with Cootamundra Wattle (Acacia baileyana) evoking images
of the Australian bush. The connection with Donald Bradman (it was his birthplace) gives the
town a link with Australia's most famous sportsman.
We’ll travel on to Canberra for our last overnight stay. Dinner at our Hotel tonight.

Day Six Tuesday 8th May
Sadly, this is our last breakfast together. Back to tea and toast tomorrow! Peter will take you a
scenic drive around our Nation’s capital this morning.
Enjoy views of the Australian War Memorial and its spectacular views to Parliament House.
Drive along the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, see the National Carillon and the National
Museum of Australia - a very scenic finish to our Autumn Colours Adventure. Then it’s off to
the airport for your flight back to Brisbane. Here a representative of Sinclair tour and Travel
will meet you at the luggage carousel and take you back to your front door! We do hope you
