Overview – Brightstar Antares Capsule J2534 setup “exe”: The Brightstar Antares J2534 setup “exe” file will perform the following tasks:
1. Install the latest J2534 Antares Capsule J2534 drivers on your device. 2. Install the Configuration Utility on your device.
To download the file Brightstar Antares Capsule J2534 setup “exe’ go to the following URL • https://antarescapsule.com/download
o Select the “download” option to download the “exe” file to your PC/Laptop.
Overview: Antares Capsule J2534 driver installation • Once downloaded, execute the Brightstar Antares Capsule J2534 setup “exe” file
o This process will automatically install the Antares Capsule J2534 drivers along with installing the Configuration Utility Icon on your desktop. See “Overview – Configuration Utility” on the process execution
Overview: Configuration Utility The Configuration Utility will guide you through the process setting up your Antares Capsule to Wi-Fi for the first time and also check for the latest software updates. The Configuration Utility will: Step 1:
• Create a folder on the local hard drive to store the Configuration Utility Process log • Provide a Configuration Utility Desktop Icon
Step 2: Will guide you through the Configuration Utility • Associates the Antares Capsule serial number (SN) to the JDriver SN on you PC or laptop. • Upgrades the Antares Capsule firmware, if needed • Upgrades the Antares Capsule application software, if needed • Configures the Wi-Fi connection and establishes connectivity. You will be prompted to select
your preferred Wi-Fi connection. • Confirms Wi-Fi connection

Configuration Utility Overview – continued Menu Features “Select” and “About” are found in the top left corner of the Configuration Utility Application Please see section “Menu Feature: Select (individual process steps)” for additional details.
• Select o Provides the ability to select a specific starting point with the Antares Capsule
Configuration Utility o Provides basic troubleshooting and understanding of the various LED light statuses
• About o Will identify the current Antares Capsule Configuration Utility version, indicate if a new
version is available, and let you update to the newest version. • Self test
o Will perform a test to identify: § USB status § Service status § JDriver Serial Number § Configuration Utility version (Config version) § App version § OS version § WiFi status § Could connection status

Begin: Execute the Antares Capsule Configuration Utility Process Prerequisites:
• Connect Capsule USB to Antares Capsule and the Device [PC or Laptop] o Note: Allow 30 – 60 seconds for “Antares Capsule to USB to Laptop” to power up and
connect o Otherwise, you will receive the following msg.
• Execute: ConfigUtilityInstaller
Step 1: Antares Capsule Configuration Folder creation: • Figures 1 - 5: Will install a folder on the local C: drive used to store the Configuration Utility Log
o Figure 6: Example “configUtility.log” file location on C: Drive • Figure 7: Once the installation is complete, a Desktop ICON will be added to your PC that will
enable you to begin Step 2 of the Configuration Utility.

Menu Feature: Select (individual process steps) The “Select” dropdown menu consists of three Configuration Utilities and the LEDs Description (troubleshooting) function. Figure 20: Select Menu
• Device Association
o Associates the Antares Capsule serial number (SN) to the JDriver SN on you PC or laptop device.
o The process will start with Device Association and continue to execute the Capsule Upgrade and WiFi Configuration process steps
• Capsule Upgrade o Will upgrade the Antares Capsule firmware & application software if needed o The process will start with Capsule Upgrade and continue WIFI Configuration execution
• WiFi Configuration o Configure the WiFi connection and establish connectivity. Will allow selection of WIFI
provider o Will confirm WiFi connection

• LEDs Description (Troubleshooting) o Will provide basic troubleshooting and understanding of the various LED light statuses
Normal Conditions: o LED will blink GREEN if the capsule is properly connected to the service. o LED will blink RED/GREEN when the diagnostic procedure is running.
Error Conditions: o LED will blink RED is Capsule has no WiFi network configured. o LED will Blink RED/Off – GREEN/Off if the capsule has Internet configured but cannot
reach the service.

• If your Antares Capsule is blinking GREEN (Figure 22)
o Configuration Complete Successfully o Click “Finish” o If not blinking GREEN, click “Troubleshoot” for more information
• If your Antares Capsule is blinking RED-OFF/GREEN-OFF (Figure 23) o Internet Connection has been established o Cannot connect to Cloud Service
§ Check connectivity between your router and the Internet o Click “Next”
• If your Antares Capsule is blinking RED (Figure 24) o No Wi-Fi connection
§ Execute the Select Menu for “WIFI Configuration”

o Click “Next”

LED will blink GREEN if Capsule is properly connected to service. Click “Finish” If not blinking GREEN, click “Troubleshoot” for more information.

LED will blink RED/OFF/GREEN/OFF if Capsule has Wi-Fi configured but cannot reach the service. Check connectivity between your router and the internet. Click “Next”

LED will blink RED if Capsule has no Wi-Fi network configured. Use this utility to add it, select “Wi-Fi Configuration” under “Select” menu. Click “Next”

Menu Feature: Upgrade the Configuration Utility version using About Use the “About - Version” option to determine what version of software is installed and to check to see if a newer version is available. Figure 26: Click “About”, Click “Version”

This will indicate the latest Configuration Utility version or allow you to click “OK” to upgrade to the latest software version. Clicking “Cancel” will not perform the update. You will see the same screens as shown in Step 1 (figures 1 – 5). When completed, locate the desktop icon, and launch the software. The wizard will update the firmware and software (if needed) as outlined in Step 2.

Menu Feature: Self test Use Self test option to check status of our capsule. After connecting capsule to PC or Laptop, wait for 30 seconds and click on self test, then we will see initiating Self test and we will see status of capsule.

i) If capsule is connected to cloud and upgraded with latest OS, we will see all green color check boxes
ii) If capsule not connected Wi-Fi then we will see red color X

iii) If capsule not connected to PC or Laptop, we will see usb status – disconnected, App version: Not Available, OS version: Not Available.
iv) If capsule is not connected to PC or capsule didn’t have latest packages. We will see red color X at “OS version and App Version” v) If JDriver Serial Number or CCCDiagnostics is not installed, we won’t see JDriver serial

Click on Home and Click on Next to run normal process for device association, capsule upgrade, and Wi-Fi configuration.

Frequently Asks Questions Q: Do I need to connect the Antares Capsule to my device (laptop, PC)? A: Yes, the initial installation and upgrade process will require the Antares Capsule to be connected via USB, to both the capsule and device. Q: Is the installation fully automated? A: The installation is automated where possible. At points during the process, you will need to review information displayed, make selections, or enter data before proceeding. Q: Do error messages appear is something goes wrong? A: Yes…the following are possible error messages that may appear.
A1 – USB Connection: This error message will appear if you do not have the Antares Capsule connected via USB to your device.
Recommended next steps: • Ensure your USB cable is connected to both the capsule and device. • Disconnect the USB from the device and capsule and then reconnect both.
o Wait 30 - 60 seconds to ensure connection is complete • Check that the Antares Capsule drivers are installed. See “Begin: Execute the Antares
Capsule Configuration Utility Process”.
A2 – WIFI password incorrect: You will be required to enter your WIFI password to connect the capsule to the WIFI. A “Show” button is provided to view your password. If your password in incorrect you will get the following error message as the system tries to connect:

• Ensure your WIFI password is correct and retry to connect. • Check to ensure other devices can connect and resolve any network issues

A3 – No Connection to Honda Diagnostic Cloud: If the WIFI password is correct, but device is not connecting Honda Diagnostic Cloud, you will receive the following error message:

A4 – CCC Application Installation: If you have not installed the CCC client you will receive this msg:

• Install the CCC application
A5 – No Internet Connection: The Configuration Utility will close immediately if the laptop or PC cannot connect to the Internet. Recommended next steps:
• Ensure you are connected to your router and can connect to the internet
Q: Do I need local WIFI service with the ability to connect to the Internet? A: Yes, you will need to know your available WIFI service name, password, and security protocol (normally WPA2) to gain access to the Internet. Q: What do the LED lights represent of the Antares Capsule? A: The below conditions outline what each LED status means. Refer to “Menu Feature: LEDs Description with Troubleshooting” for additional information.

Q: What is the purpose of the “Select” menu option? A: This will provide the option to execute specific installation steps after the initial installation is complete for troubleshooting connections. See “Menu Feature: Select (individual process steps)” for additional information. Q: How can I tell quickly if I’m connected and overall status of capsule? A: You can execute the Configuration Utility and then select the “Self Test”, which will provide the latest information. See Menu Feature: Self Test for instructions.
