She has really enjoyed her experience working as an assis-tant director. She would like to thank the director, cast, and crew of Brigadoon for making this an unforgettable journey. A special mention goes out to her 10th grade buddies for bestowing her with the title of “Hitleress” =).

Nyomi Bhathena Abhishek Mehra

Is this real or a dream? Some might ask why a modern school in the Indian Himalaya would produce a 65-year old American musical that takes place in Scotland. Aside from mist and mountains, what can our community connect with in a show like this? In actuality, much of the story centers on that very concept: community, and specifically, what it’s like to be part of a small, tightly-knit community that is isolated from the outside world. This is Brigadoon, and in many ways it is also Woodstock. We also are a com-munity, a rich and vibrant one, and we may also look a bit strange when

you first visit. It has been a fitting pleasure to recreate this mysterious parallel world in a place so idyllic and…unbelievable.

Brigadoon also raises questions about the nature of belief. What does it mean to believe in someawe in our 21st century empiricism become so obsessed with what is that we are unable to wonder what could be?

Sometimes, belief becomes the fulcrum on which our fates hinge. Our two main characters, Jeff and Tommy, find themselves in a strange land that claims to have been forever changed by a mira-cle, but can they believe the tale? The cynic Jeff Douglas says he can only believe in things that he can see, touch, smell, and taste, a philosophy which has not made him particularly happy. However, Tommy, unsatisfied with his own humdrum reality, is tempted to defy logic and trust his heart in spite of the consequences. “Sometimes what you believe in becomes more real to you than all the things you can explain away or understand.”
