support to children, young people and their families. You are welcome to

Sensory Room - Tiny Galaxies a dedicated room themed to stimulate children's
sensory development, uses various lighting, sound and visual display equipment.
You are welcome to book a session in our Sensory Room which is suitable for pre-
school children and their parents. Come and spend some quality time with your little
ones. Please contact the Centre on 01282 470534 to check availability and book
your 1 hour session.
Early Years Activity Room - an ideal environment for children to practice and
improve their communication skills, play and interact with other children so they
develop better physical, social, mental and emotional skills whilst having fun.
Outside Play Area – a good sized, safe play area to access outdoor activities
whatever the weather.
Health Room – a room used by our heath professional partners and midwives,
suitable for ante natal and health visitor appointments.
Allotment —Benthead Children's Community Allotment next to Marsden
Heights School (a map on how to get here is available at the Centre). Attend the
family open days which are run on certain Thursday's throughout the year in school
holidays. To experience our new sensory musical garden, craft activities and sand
play. Learn how to grow your own food, enjoy food tasting from the Cob Oven and
experience natural play in a safe outdoor environment. Please bring along a bottle
of water to drink and some healthy snacks.
Healthy Start vitamins - you can now collect your free vitamins at this centre.
Healthy Start vitamins contain vitamins A, C and D for your child and folic acid and
vitamins C and D for you if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or until your baby is
one year old. Drops are for your child if they are aged from six months (unless a
Health Visitor has advised earlier use of vitamins) until they are four years old and
mums get tablets. You must be receiving the Healthy Start vouchers that you get
with your food vouchers. You will exchange the voucher to get your free vitamins.
If you need more information please contact your Midwife, Health Visitor or ask a
member of staff at this centre.

Midwife Clinic – Appointments with your midwife ante and post-natal.
Early Days – this one-to-one session, linked to ante-natal clinics, will focus
on the ante-natal and early post-natal period and share information with
parents-to-be as they progress through their pregnancy. The session also
covers the Early Days with baby and staff will continue to support parents
with practical advice and guidance during those early days.
Bump, Birth & Beyond – is an ante-natal course run in partnership with
Lancashire County Council's Children and Family Wellbeing Service,
Midwives and Health Visitors. It supports parents-to-be through pregnancy
and beyond. The programme provides you with relevant information to
help you make informal choices about birth, preparation for the birth as
well as key messages about infant feeding, safer sleep, play,
communication and taking care of your new baby.
Baby to 2 - this activity session will focus on children aged 8 weeks to 2
years, and help parents to understand the age and stage development of
their child. The session is run in partnership with the Health Visitors Baby
Clinic, you can have your baby weighed and speak to a Health Visitor and
staff from the Centre will be on hand to give practical advice and support
on a range of topics, whilst being able to signpost to support.
Mini Me – this activity session this activity session will focus on 2 to 3
year olds is a great way for parents to learn and play with their children
in a fun and friendly environment with other families, with a particular
focus on developing language and communication skills through
activities and play. Centre staff are on hand to support and encourage
families attending and signpost to other activities and services.
Let's Get Ready! - this activity session will focus on 3 to 5 year olds
(pre-school). Our Let's Get Ready! session aims to develop your child's
personal, social and communication skills to prepare and support them
during their transition to nursery or school. The age and stage activities
will allow your child to develop their independence skills further building
confidence in a fun environment.
Health 4 Youth - this session is for young people age between 12 -19
years old, focusing on promoting the 5 Ways to Well-Being. This 12
week programme, which promotes the Stay Safe and Live Well agenda
curriculum themes, will focus upon building resilience and coping with
life's ups and downs. This session will also focus on signposting young
people to other opportunities within the community. (Delivered at
Brierfield Young People's Centre)
SEND – Our service is working in partnership with specialist providers
to include Contact a Family and Barnardo's Lancashire Break Time
Service, to enhance the wealth of provision we offer to children and
young people with special educational needs and/or disability. To
explore the range of services on offer, please contact your local centre
for details.
