    Three specific objectives (guide book)

    Provide training in educational research in order to enable

    candidates to gain exposure and training in the differentmethods of research. This will allow them to conduct researchin various educational setting.

    Produce graduates in educational areas who have wide

    understanding of various issues in the system, social andadministrations of educational organisation.

    1. Form for pre-registration PLG 598 and Proposal ResearchTitle Form name of your tutor for PLG 501.

    2. Form for the topic confirmation need to be signed by the

    supervisor the date for submission will be informed.3. Form for the meeting of supervision Part time (greencolor); Full time ( Blue color) and Re-registered (white color).

    4. Form for submitting the project need to be signed by thesupervisor.

    Students responsibility: do follow-up with admin staff toconfirm the important dates.

    Research Project Supervision

    1. The meeting of supervision should be frequent (atleast 10 times for the period of supervision). Pleaseask the supervisors signature for each appointment.

    2. Research should be tailored with the research focus.

    3. The research report should be submitted on thesubmission date .

    4. Follow all regulations and writing format please referto IPS guideline.

    5. The supervisor will make a report of the student underhis/her supervision in the SES Exam Board meeting.

    6. The process of supervision starts after getting an approvalof the list of the student by SES Board Meeting.

    7. Full time student who did not see or has a meeting withhis/her supervisor after a month of the supervision periodstarted will receive a reminder letter from the Dean of SES.

    8. Part time student who did not see or has a meeting withhis/her supervisor after two months the supervision periodstarted will receive a reminder letter from the Dean of SES.

    Advice 1: Get the job done independently

    You are seen as a master student and therefore shouldnot expect a lot of direct management.

    Dont try to hide if you havent been working.

    NO spoon-feeding.

    Advice 2: Show initiative and create interest

    Supervisors are very busy.

    You need to initiate contact, schedule meetings, seek input,etc. Show enthusiasm.

    Advice 3: Be sensitive to the supervisors

    schedule

    Give your supervisor time to process your work.

    Some supervisors might prefer to receive many short bits ofwriting on a regular basis while others prefer a complete draft.

    Find out what works best for you and your supervisor!

    Your Responsiblity

    The student need to get his/her supervisor signature andthe meeting record each time he/she meet the supervisor.The student need to ensure:

    1. The originality of his/her research project and avoid anyattempt or intention of doing plagiarism.

    2. Submit the report on the date that has been determined

    by the Board of SES.

    3. Follow all the research and academic requirements inwriting the report.

    Research Project ReportPLG 598

    The length of the report is not more than 15000 words or 60 pages @ 250words per page, not including the appendix.

    APA Style.

    Follow the format provided by IPS.

    Submit the report (hard-copy) in four copies.

    Need to submit together with the soft copy (CD).

    Research Project Report Evaluation

    PLG 598

    1. Two examiners/evaluators.

    2. Oral presentation (mini viva) is to ensure the originality ofthe work and it is from the student work.

    3. Attendance and presentation in the oral presentation iscompulsory.

    Fail to Submit Report

    Student who fail to submit his/her report on the date will beassumed as failed to finish the research project and will get

    F grade for the PLG 598.

    The late submission of the research project report will bedowngraded.

    Student who failed PLG 598 need to re-register at thefollowing semeter and submit a research proposal to theCourse Coordinator of PLG 598 or Deputy Dean (PostGraduate Studies and Research).

    The A and A- research project report will be placed inSES Library.

    Issue 1: Course Withdraw

    Before the 6 th Week in the 1 st semester of registration.

    Fill the form from IPS bring to SES to get signature from theChairperson of Master Program or The Deputy Dean of RIT.

    Submit to IPS and copy to the SES office (postgraduate unit).

    Issue 2: Candidature

    All students are responsible to ensure the status of candidature.

    If the period of candidature near to expire and the student hasyet to finish PLG 598, the student is responsible to apply forextension his/her candidature period .

    Any application of extension needs to be done 2 months beforethe candidature expires.

    Issue 3: Change of Supervisor All student are not allowed to change their supervisor.

    Will only be allowed if the supervisor:1. withdraw2. retired, sabbatical leave, study leave3. other reason that accepted by SES Board Meeting

    Cumulative Grade Point Average

    (CGPA)

    Minimum CGPA for graduation is 2.50.

    Student who get grade less than C+ for the PLG598need to repeat this course in the following semester.
