    Preface

Every Brief Words, Long Museissue will cogitate on whatever that comes to the

mind and express them in words, which in turn is promulgated to the world

    wide world.

Every seed that evolves from brackish water in which we are dwelling in can

invariably become fresh novel thoughts. They could be sweet, sour, salty orbitter in flavour, but they will always take a different path from the

    orthodoxy.

If you want to see how random thoughts look like, the Brief Words, Long Muse

    issues will suit your curiosity.

What is sensory evaluation? asked Mr Armageddon in his crisp and somnolent voice ashe duly darted his eyes from one end of the classroom to another.

Tobias, being awakened from the hackneyed questions Mr Armageddon would ask to see if

his students were paying attention, immediately rattled off, Sensory evaluation is theprocess of using the five senses to analyze and evaluate a food product. In sensory

evaluation, the following characteristics of a food product are assessed appearance,

smell, taste, texture and even sound.

Reputedly pleased by his envisaged answer, Mr Armageddon mused for a moment before

asking again, What are the reasons in carrying out sensory evaluation?

The intellectual boy spoke again, in the guise of a doctor doing an expound or dissection,

Firstly, this is to find out if two products are seen to be same or different. Secondly, this is to

find out why consumers prefer one food product to another similar food product. Thirdly,

this is to find out why a particular food product is liked by consumers. Fourthly, emm this

is to provide a description of the sensory properties of a food product. And lastly, to find

out what needs to be changed in a recipe to improve the food product.

With that, many other students felt envied as their eyebrows sunk and their eyes piercing.

Whereas Tobias himself felt gratified that he had eaten two energy bars at breakfast to

    purvey him with sudden energy.

Sensory evaluation includes too tests which are the Paired Comparison Test and Triangle

    Test.

The paired comparison test can be used to find out if a food sample is preferred over

    another.

The triangle test can be used to find out if there is any difference in taste in the food

    samples.

These are the salient points, and the points of memory fodder. If any students would have

forgotten those, undoubtedly they would be in big trouble.

But in my view, in philosophy, sensory evaluation seems to be ponderous, as deep as an

    abyss, impenetrable and inscrutable.

It doesnt apply whether one is obese and is having chronic diseases like cancer, high

blood pressure, diabetes (Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes) and coronary heart

disease. And it doesnt apply to whether you have a dearth of Vitamin A (in the form ofRetinol and Beta-carotene), Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid), Vitamin D (Calciferol), Iron, Calcium

and Sodium; or suffering from prolonged and interminable kwashiorkor, constipation,

    dehydration and osteoporosis.

Let all those technical words dispel forthwith, actually, I contemplate sensory evaluation

    as a soul in working.

A soul in working? We requisite the soul in order tocarry out sensory evaluation. If we do it lackadaisically, there is

absolutely no efficacious outcomes to it.

Soul is water. The soul replenishes you after tasting thefirst food sample so that the taste of the first food sample will not

linger in the mouth and affect the taste of the other food samples.

Soul is operation. If we have a benign tumour ormalignant tumour we need to have operation to live. In malignant

tumour in cancer, it invades healthy tissue. It spreads throughout

the body by releasing cancerous cells. Soul is medication, thatgives sanguinity in operation, so that you feel assured that the

operation can and will be successful.
