Brief three / Self Branding For my third brief, which happened to be my last brief (which is also why the personal brand on each of the other briefs is the old one) I wanted to create a colourful and contemporary mark. Brief three / Self Branding

For my third brief, which happened to be my last brief (which is also why the personal brand on each of the other briefs is the old one) I wanted to create a colourful and contemporary mark. The colours were inspired by the national colour of the Netherlands which links with my design alias ‘Dutch’.

The new mark was a progression and modernisation of my old logo mark, which used several decagons, a tribute to my interest in geometric shapes to form a band of colour. I took the geometric element from my existing logo and increased the stroke weight to give image a stronger presence.

The typeface used was Futura Medium, due to it’s think strokes and solid composure, it worked well to let the image and colours breath. In comparison the new improved mark sits more confident that the previous one and has a stronger visual presence.

The brand was carried through to the printed collateral such as business cards, where the stock will be duplexed with an orange card to strengthen the link between my Alias and the nation it relates to.

The zig-zag line is also a subtle nod towards my birthplace, inspired by mark making of my village’s sharp rugged rock slopes close to the moor’s of Bradford.

The website is a stripped back contemporary portfolio, showcasing my current work in an experimental fashion. On opening the ‘work’ page of the site several layers of work stack upon each other where the visitor then clicks away at each layer which disapears to reveal the one below it and finally reach the description of the project.

Snask, a Design agency in Stockholm, Sweden got in touch with the college asking for students interested in travelling over for an internship. John, who was in contact with the studio advised us to produce an PDF mail out to grab their attention.

From researching the agency I found that they we’re quite laid back and had a sense of humour as well as having a keen interest in football video games. They often played around with their studio name, i.e ‘Snask off’ and ‘Sweet mother of Snask’ so I devloped a line of copy that would potentially grb their attention and match their humour.
