• Seven 50 minute periods each day
• Core courses are full-year
• Electives are full-year or half-year depending upon curriculum needs
• Academic Support periods will be built into the new schedule for some students based upon student need
• Students will have the opportunity to earn 1 less credit each year
• As a result, the number of credits required for graduation will need to be adjusted accordingly

What is a pathway?
A pathway is a coherent progression of courses in a particular area that prepare students upon graduation for entry into a related career field or continued education at the post-secondary level.

• The Program of Studies has been shared electronically with all students & parents
• Course Selection Week February 26th-March 2nd – Teachers will discuss with students different courses offered within their
departments
– Each class will report for an assembly about the highlights in the Program of Studies
– Wednesday & Thursday students will report by homeroom to computer labs staffed by guidance counselors to enter their course requests
• Beginning the week of March 5th Guidance Counselors will begin to review course requests & schedule appointments with students as necessary
• What are your child’s post-secondary plans
• What are your child’s passion & interests
• Is your child on track to fulfill all of their graduation requirements
• Which course level is appropriate?
• 3 Levels of Courses offered at DHS
• Course levels are not fixed! Students are encouraged to take academic risks & stretch themselves—effort leads to achievement.
• Perfectly appropriate to select courses across all levels
