Brief Industrial Profile of Mungeli District

1. General Characteristics of the District

A recently defined district; Mungeli is a political unit of governance that has been

carvedout of the district of Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh. The district comprises of three

administrative blocks (Lormi, Mungeli&Patharia) and is typically identified as a rural

landscape with a primarily agrarian economy. Unlike its neighbouring districts, Mungeli is

largely untouched by the recent spike in industrial activity and 91.6 percent of workforce

in the district is engaged in agriculture and allied work.

1.1 Location & Geographical Area.

Mungeli is located at 22.07°N 81.68°E. It has an average elevation of 288 metres (944 feet).

1.2 Topography

Mungeli district lies 944 feet above sea level. It has a hot dry climate.
