T-WORKS UPDATE Currently almost 65% of T-Works has been completed since the

start of the program.

We have a pool of prioritized projects that are currently under development. Multiple factors, including emerging needs and available funding, play a part in determining which will be approved for future construction.

POST T-WORKS

Local Consult

Meetings held last fall.

Needs will continue to be identified through next year with

additional Local Consult Meetings in late 2016.

Development of a new program will begin in the near

future.

Initial plans are to develop a multiyear program to follow

the completion of T-Works.

CURRENT INITIATIVES - 3D CADD

Transition to 3D Modeling to start later this year.

Phase 1 - 3D Analysis and Implementation Plan.

Funding has be secured and this phase is scheduled to be completed Spring

2016.

Additional Phases to follow dependent on funding with full

implementation within 2-3 years after completion of Phase 1.

Future BSGS direction could include.

Modeling the bridge structure and bridge berms for inclusion in the

overall 3D project model.

The occasional development of a 3D PDF detail model to clarify

complex 2D plan details for fabricators and field construction staff.

CURRENT ISSUES - ASBESTOS

EPA issued a regulatory interpretation of the Asbestos

NESHAP as it applies to concrete bridges in 2014.

Applies to the demolition, reconstruction, rehabilitation, or

deck repairs of existing span bridges.

Asbestos containing materials (ACM) is defined as material

containing more than 1% asbestos.

Bridge concrete is considered Category II non-friable AMC if it

contains more than one percent asbestos.

Special Provision and testing protocol currently being

developed.

CURRENT ISSUES – 23 CFR 625

FHWA requested comments in June on a proposed revision to

design standards and standard specification that applies to work

on the National Highway System. Comments are currently

under review.

Will replace the current reference to AASHTO LRFD Bridge design

Specification, First Edition 1994 with the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design

Specification, 7th Edition, 2014.

Will replace the current reference to Standard Specification for Structural

Supports for Highway Signs, Luminaries and Traffic Signals, 1994 with the

Standard Specification for Structural Supports for Highway Signs,

Luminaries and Traffic Signals, 6th Edition, 2013.

Currently reviewing BSGS standards.
