ATP in brewing

The ATP Machine is the perfect tool for rapid validation of your cleaning regime within your brewery. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is an enzyme that is present in all living cells, and an ATP monitoring system can detect the amount of organic matter that remains after cleaning. It works on the principle that organic material will react with an enzyme in the swap to produce light, this is then picked up by the detector and can be stored on the built in computer software to produce a record that can verify the effectiveness of the clean. (verification of a CCP is one of the seven HACCP principles)

Brewing is a very high risk process, which puts the quality of the beer you’re producing in jeopardy if you aren’t effectively cleaning at each stage of the process, which is why the ATP Machine has proved so popular within the brewing industry and is the perfect starting place for any small brewery looking to validate their cleaning methods.

Testing kits

Rigid and stringent testing of your brew is integral to keeping the consistency in your product, from testing PH levels to using our hand held turbidity meter. We have built a strong & ever expanding catalogue of equipment which is becoming more and more essential to our brewery customers.

The testing of pH throughout the brewing process has a number of benefits:

1. Intake liquor checks to ensure water is fit to brew with (Typical 7.0, acidify to brew)2. Improved extract conversion in the mash tun. (Typical range 5.2-5.5)3. Monitoring of fermentation to ensure that bacterial infection has not occurred (Typical range 4.0-4.3)4. End product testing in the pub cellar to check for poor cellar practices. (Typical range 4.0-4.3)

Dissolved Oxygen

Oxygen is important up to the start of fermentation, after that it has detrimental effects on your beer. Pitching yeast is normally aerated, this helps the yeast to produce lipids to build its cell wall membranes. After that it is important to keep oxygen levels low to minimize oxidized characters in your beers. (Typical less than 0.3ppm)

The Biosart 100 Monitors have been specifically designed for the detection and enumeration of microorganisms in many key areas, including beverages. These sterile disposables with an incorporated membrane filter and cellulose pad are ready to use, making it easy for the user. After filtration, just remove the 100ml funnel to convert the Monitor into a petri dish eliminating the need for membrane manipulation and thus improving the simplicity and helping eradicate the risk of your testing. Culture media for wetting the pad are available individually sterilized, convenient plastic Ampoules. Biosart 100 Monitors are ready-to-use filter units designed to be places onto the bases of the vacuum manifold, eliminating the cleaning and sterilization required of reusable funnels.
