National 4-H Week is October 1-7, 2017

Breckinridge County 4-H will

Celebrate National 4-H Week

with the

Incredible Wearables

This national science experiment provides youth

with an opportunity to learn about e-textiles as they

design a prototype wearable technology capable of

gathering data. The project is designed to teach

youth about wearable technologies and healthy life

choices. Breckinridge County 4-H will be

exploring Incredible Wearables in school clubs,

upcoming workshops and day camps.

4-H Achievement

Applications have been mailed and are now available at the Extension Office for the 4-H

Achievement Program. This program recognizes outstanding 4-H members and their cumulative

4-H accomplishments, as well as, their breadth of knowledge and skills through participation in 4-H.

4-H Wranglers’ Horse Club

The next club meeting will be Thursday, October 5th at 6 p.m. (ct) in the

Extension Farmers’ Market & Educational Facility.

The club trail ride is scheduled for Friday, October 6th through Sunday October 8th

at the Tucker’s Farm.

Poultry Club

The next club meeting will be Saturday, October 14th at the Farm House Store in Cloverport. The club will be hosting a Fundraiser.

The fun starts at dusk, please show up before dusk to help with set up and preparation.

Note: This takes the place of the regular meeting.

Youth Livestock Club Members

The Livestock Club will meet Monday, October 16th at 6 p.m.(ct) in the Extension Community Building.

Bug Club

The next club meeting will be Saturday, October 14th at the Farm House Store in

Cloverport. There will be a Fire Fly (Glow in the Dark) Volleyball Fundraiser. The fun starts at dusk,

please show up before dusk to help with set up and preparation.

4-H Puppy Pals

Puppy Pals will meet on Thursday, October 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th at 6 p.m. (ct)

at Lazy Jim Day Dog Training Facility (6396 West Hwy 60 Hardinsburg, KY 40143).

Family, Friends and Food Club

The next club meeting will be Thursday, November 2nd at 4:30 p.m. (ct) in the

Extension Office Basement.

Rabbit Club

The next club meeting will be Monday, October 16th at 6 p.m. (ct) in the

Extension Farmers’ Market & Educational Facility.

Fall Open Rabbit Show is Saturday, October 21st at 9 a.m. (ct) at the Breckinridge Co. Fairgrounds.

4-H Photography Club

The Photography Club will meet Friday, October 20th at 4:30 p.m. (ct) in the

Extension Community Building

4-H Home School Club

The Home School Club will meet Friday, October 6th & November 3rd at 12 noon (ct) in the

Extension Community Building

BCMS 4-H Adventure Club

The Adventure Club will be meeting Tuesday, October 10th and October 24th at 3 p.m. (ct) at the Breckinridge County Middle School in Room 307.

The club will also be participating in the US 60 Yard Sale. Members may donate items and/or come

prepared to help with the yard sale.

Shooting Sports Club

Breckinridge County Sewing Circle The sewing circle meets the second

Tuesday of each month from 9 a.m. (ct) to noon in the Extension Office Basement.

Paper Crafters Scrapbooking Group The paper crafters are offering several upcoming work-

shops to make holiday cards. All members and friends are invited to come and create handmade cards. All supplies

are provided with the $6 workshop fee. Workshop dates: Tuesdays, October 10th & 24th, November 14th & 28th, December 5th & 19th 6 p.m. (ct) in the Extension Office Basement.

4-H Trivia Question:

This month’s trivia question is for Shooting Sports: Name the disciplines offered in 4-H Shooting Sports.

Answer will be in the next newsletter.

Robotics Club

Congratulations to all the Robotics Club members for a successful year. The 2018 Robotics Club enrollment will open in the spring.

Answer to the previous trivia question: Name 3 forces of flight: Lift, thrust, and drag.

Teen Club

Teen Club will be hosting First Aid & CPR training for teens. All interested teens should contact the Extension Office for details.

Teen Leadership Academy (TLA)

The next TLA meeting will be Thursday, October 12th in Meade County. The group will meet at the Breckinridge County Extension Office at 7 a.m. (ct).
