IndicationsShallow,granulatingwounds,chronicandacuteexudativewounds,fullandpartialthicknesswoundssuchaspressureulcers,legulcersanddiabeticfootulcers,infectedwounds,malignantwounds,surgicalwounds,firstandseconddegreeburns,donorsites,fungatingulcersandoncologicalwounds.

ApplicationCleanse wound in accordance with local clinical protocols. Select an appropriatedressingsize.ALLEVYNAgNon-Adhesivecanbecuttofitawkwardareas.Alwaysuseacleantechniquewhencuttingthedressing.Whenusedundercompressiontherapy,thedressingmustbecuttothesizeofthewound.Prepareandcleantheskinsurroundingthewoundareaandremoveexcessmoisture.Anyexcesshairshouldbeclippedtoensurecloseapproximationtothewound.RemoveALLEVYNAgNon-Adhesivefromthepackusingacleantechnique.

Applythewhitefacetothewoundensuringgoodcontactandsecurewithadressingretentionsheet(egOPSITE™FlexifixorOPSITEFlexifixGentle),tapeorbandage.Ifthedressinghasbeencutensureanyexposedfoamareasarecoveredwithanappropriatefilmdressingtakingcarenottocovertheentiredressing.

Frequency of changeDuringtheearlystagesofwoundmanagementALLEVYNAgNon-Adhesiveshouldbeinspectedaccordingtolocalclinicalprotocol.Wheretheproductisusedoninfectedwoundstheinfectionshouldbeinspectedandtreatedasperlocalclinicalprotocol.Dressingscanbeleftinplaceforupto7days,exceptthesacralareawheredressingscanbeleftinplaceforupto5days,dependingontheconditionofthewoundandthesurroundingskinoruntilexudateisvisibleandapproachestowithin0.5cmoftheedgeofthedressingpad,whicheverissooner.Thedecisionofwhentochangeshouldbedependentuponclinicalassessmentandlocalprotocolsshouldalsobetakenintoconsideration.

Dressing RemovalToremoveALLEVYNAgNon-Adhesive,removetheretentiondressingorbandageandliftthedressingawayfromthewound.

Precautions•DonotuseALLEVYNNon-Adhesivewithoxidisingagentssuchashypochloritesolutions(eg.EUSOL)orhydrogenperoxide,asthesecanbreakdowntheabsorbentpolyurethanecomponentofthedressing.Ifreddeningorsensitisationoccurs,discontinueuse.ALLEVYNHeelmustnotbeusedforpressurereliefindependentlyofpressurerelievingdevices.ALLEVYNNon-Adhesiveisasingleuseproduct.

•Forexternaluseonly.•DonotuseALLEVYNAgNon-Adhesivewithoxidizingagentssuchashypochloritesolutions(e.g.EUSOL)orhydrogenperoxide,asthesecanbreakdowntheabsorbentpolyurethanecomponentofthedressing

•ALLEVYNAgNon-Adhesivemaynotbecompatiblewithtopicalantimicrobials.

•Intheeventofclinicalinfection,topicalsilverdoesnotreplacetheneedforsystemictherapyorotheradequateinfectiontreatment.

•Incommonwithalladhesiveproductsirritationand/ormacerationoftheskinsurroundingthewoundmay.occur.Ifreddeningorsensitisationoccurs,discontinue use, and consult a healthcare professional.

•Itshouldbenotedthatinappropriateuseortoofrequentdressingchanges,particularlyonpatientswithfragileskinmayresultinskinstripping.

•AvoidcontactwithelectrodesorconductivegelsduringelectronicmeasurementssuchasEEG(Electroencephalogram)andECG(Electrocardiogram).

•WhenALLEVYNAgNon-AdhesiveisusedonapatientduringMRI(MagneticResonanceImaging)somewarmingmaybeexperienced.

•ALLEVYNAgNon-Adhesiveisnotcompatiblewithoilbasedproductssuchas petrolatum.

•ALLEVYNAgNon-Adhesiveisnotsuitableforusealoneoncavitywoundsbutmaybeusedovercavitywoundsasasecondarydressing.

•AswithallproductscontainingSSDthefollowingprecautionsshouldbenoted,especiallywhencoveringalargesurfaceareawiththedressing:

-Usecautioninpatientswithsignificanthepaticorrenalimpairment, -Usecautioninindividualsknowntohaveglucose-6-phosphatedehydrogenasedeficiency,

-Effectsofsystemicallyadministereddrugsmaybealtered.Thiscanespeciallyapplytooralhypoglycaemicagentsandtophenytoin.Inthecaseofthesedrugs,itisrecommendedthatbloodlevelsshouldbemonitoredastheireffectcanbepotentiated.
