Rachel Carson was hired by the U.S Bureau of Fisheries to write radio scripts during the depression and supplemented her income writing feature articles on natural history for the Baltimore Sun. She began a 15 year career in the federal service as a scientist and edit in 1936 and rose to become editor in chief of all publications for the U.S Fish in Wildlife Services in Baltimore.

Rachel Carson did this because she did not want anymore pollution or damage in this ecosystem. She wanted to protect the living world and all of its creatures.

This has changed our world because she opened our eyes on what we were actually doing, she did not want us polluting the world anymore because the ecosystem got terribly polluted and nasty because a lot of factories started being built and there was a lot of farmlands, so she reminded us that we are a vulnerable part of the natural world subject to the same damage as the rest of the ecosystem. The world would be different if this was not solved because the ecosystem would be terribly polluted and out of control and it would be one big mess.

Rachel was born May 27th 1907 in Springdale, Pennsylvania. She died April 14th 1964 in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Rachel was only 57 when she died. She died because of cancer. Also she was the author of Silent Spring the famous book that inspired us all.
