BREAKING THROUGH IN INTERCESSION (You Were Born For This)

Dr. Arnold L. Santonia

“But your iniquities have separated you from God; YOUR SINS HAVE HIDDEN HIS FACE FROM YOU, so that he will not hear” (Isaiah 59:2).

“Prayer prevents us from sin, and sin prevents us from prayer” (John Maxwell).

“Look to the LORD and His strength; SEEK HIS FACE ALWAYS” (Psalm 105:4 NIV).

1. PRAY WITH YOUR WHOLE BEING“He (Epaphras) is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.” (Colossians 4:12)

“Jesus on earth offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.”(Hebrews 5:7)

2. PRAY IN FAITH“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24 NIV)

Faith is believing that you have received what you are praying for. Faith is more than believing God can answer or is able to answer prayer. Faith is knowing that God has heard and the answer is on the way.

3. PRAY WITH AUTHORITY“I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 18:18 NIV).

“The movement of heaven follows the movement of the earth. Heaven listens to the words on earth and acts on the earth's command. Whatsoever is bound on earth will be bound in heaven; and whatsoever is loosed on earth shall be loosed in haven. And this is authoritative prayer” (Watchman Nee).

4. BE SPECIFIC when you pray“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done” (Philippians 4:6 NLT).

"I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened” (Luke 11:9,10).

5. LEARN HOW TO PRAY THROUGH1 Kings 18: 42 (NIV) – So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees. “Go and look toward the sea,” he told his servant. And he went up and looked. “ There is nothing there, “ he said. Seven times Elijah said, “ Go back.” 1 Kings 18: 44 (NIV) – The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, “Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.”

6. PRAY IN THE SPIRIT “PRAY IN THE SPIRIT in all occasions with all kinds of prayer and requests” (Ephesians 6:18 NIV).

“THE SPIRIT HELPS US IN OUR WEAKNESS. We do not know what we ought to pray for, BUT THE SPIRIT HIMSELF INTERCEDES FOR US with groans that words cannot express” (Romans 8:26 NIV).

The Power Of Corporate Intercession“When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alpheaus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. THEY ALL JOINED TOGETHER CONSTANTLY IN PRAYER, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.” (Acts 1:13-14 NIV)

(1) The POWER of Agreement.Jesus said, “If two of you agree down here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you” (Matthew 18:19 NLT).

(2) More Prayers More Power.“He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that HE WILL CONTINUE TO DELIVER US, AS YOU HELP US BY YOUR PRAYERS. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the GRACIOUS FAVOR GRANTED US IN ANSWER TO THE PRAYERS OF MANY” (2 Cor.1:10-11 NIV).

(3) The Power of Perseverance.“So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever the lowered his

hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses hand grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up – so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekites army with the sword.” (Exodus 17:10–13 NIV)

History Belongs To The Intercessors!“O Jerusalem, I have posted watchmen on your walls; they will pray to the LORD day and night for the fulfillment of his promises. Take no rest, all you who pray. Give the Lord no rest until he makes Jerusalem the object of praise throughout the earth.”(Isaiah 62:6-7 NLT)
