DIRECTOR’S NOTE
I’ll admit before taking on this show, I knew next to nothing about Dungeons
& Dragons. My fantasy game of choice is the card game, Yu-Gi-Oh, and my
knowledge of Dungeons & Dragons came from The Big Bang Theory. I was
much like our protagonist when confronted with some of these monsters. For
example, my mental image of a Bug Bear was a grizzly bear with antennae
and beetle wings. I was quickly corrected. But there is more to this show than
monsters.
This show is about the bond between sisters (on that note, hi Moni!) and about
fantasy. Games are among the entertainment mediums that help provide an
escape from the real world. It gives us the opportunity to be strong, magical,
wise or silly, if we so choose. We can weave these follies so we can experi-
ence impossible dreams, grapple with the struggles in reality and find a way to
recharge our personal batteries. And in today’s in social climate a little escape,
a little fantasy, is something we all need.
I would like to thank Paul Zaragoza and the Village Playhouse for this oppor-
tunity, Nate for his support and insight, and of course my parents for every-
thing they’ve done.
I hope you enjoy She Kills Monsters.
-Maria Pretzl

escape from the real world.
