Partnership and Respect
The Brazilian Chicken industry has deep respect for Muslim countries, which it treats with special dedication. These markets are not only important purchasers but have giv-en this Brazilian product credibility over the last 35 years.
The significance of the Islamic market for Brazil goes far beyond trade relations. It has taken on the incomparable importance of a true partnership, built upon the sound foundations of long standing trust mutual respect.
Muslim countries are the major destina-tion for Brazilian chicken exports today. Bra-zil has achieved an outstanding position as the world’s largest Halal chicken exporter, a title to which Brazilian producers attach unri-valled importance and which goes far beyond its commercial meaning to account for one of the most solid and traditional partner-ships in world trade.
Brazil has achieved a deserved position of honor in Halal chicken production owing to its quality and professionalism in growing, slaughtering and processing the birds. The birds are fed a corn and soy-based diet free of the impurities listed in Islamic jurispru-dence; they are slaughtered within specific weight standards, without the use of artificial products. Brazilian producers demonstrate a correct interpretation by producing foods that fully respect the Halal ritual.
Halal production certification in Brazil is conferred by independent certifying bodies or by the governments of the importing countries themselves.
Certifiers associated with ABPA (Brazil-ian Association of Animal Protein) are the Islamic Dissemination Center for Islam in Latin America (CDIAL Halal), the Fed-eration of Muslims Associations in Brazil (FAMBRAS), and the Islamic Inspection Services (SIIL Halal).
Brazilian Islamic certifying bodies are in-creasingly reinforcing their Halal process control mechanisms in Brazil, enhancing the confidence of consumers that they are buying food produced with the strictest respect for religious rules. They possess computerized control systems with daily spreadsheets on production, volume, lo-cation, procedures, and so on, for all the states of Brazil that produce Halal food.
All religious demands are complied with when the chicken’s necks are cut, one of the most important stages of Halal slaugh-ter, above all checking to see whether the animal is alive before slaughter, and the in-vocation of Allah at the moment of cutting, and total bleeding of the chicken before scalding with hot water.
Brazilian chicken is much appreciated in the Middle East since it is produced with respect for Islamic culture. This is no different in poultry farming. To-day, over 150 markets import chicken meat that is made in Brazil. Nearly 4 million tons are shipped out of the country’s ports every year, nearly one-third of all chicken meat pro-duced in Brazil.
On Brazilian farms, technological excel-lence in genetics, management and environ-ment have guaranteed enormous progress in production, making the country the third largest producer worldwide of chicken meat, with over 12 million tons of chicken meat an-nually.
Behind this production chain are dozens of industries, spread across various states in Brazil, in regions that are notable for their colonization by European and Asian coun-tries.
There are also major centers of egg produc-tion. The most notable, located in the city of Bastos, is internationally recognized as one of the largest producers in the egg laying in-dustry in the world.
Brazilian poultry sector
All of the links in the chain highlight the greatness of Brazilian poultry farming, rec-ognized for its quality, health and efficiency, guaranteeing that Brazil’s poultry farming products are on the tables of consumers on the five continents.
Respect for the environment is another notable feature of Brazilian poultry farming. Concentrated outside of the Amazon Biome – in states in the south, southeast and cen-ter-west regions of the country. The climate and grain supply are fundamental points, en-suring that the industry has one of the lowest rates of carbon emissions in its production in the world. Programs for reforestation, wa-ter resource conservation and rational use of supplies contribute to this outcome.

As a result, internationally recognized qual-ity has placed poultry meat produced in Brazil in a prominent position among those most sought out by the international market, making it extremely healthy, with a unique texture and fl avor and low levels of fat.
At the same time, Brazil has reached an un-paralleled level when it comes to health. In poultry farming, there is not one single case of Bird Flue on record in Brazilian territory – the only country with this status among ma-jor poultry producers.
Our poultry industries and farms comply with strict health protocols, in a highly tech-nical environment, within standards estab-lished by the Codex Alimentarius (FAO) and with total compliance with standards of ani-mal welfare.
All poultry meat produced and exported by Brazil is subject to strict quality and health control processes, totally inspected by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) of Brazil. Each stage of the produc-tion process is carefully inspected by MAPA, which relies on a large structure, with special-ized departments made up of highly trained professionals. At each exporter processing unit in Brazil, there is a Federal Inspection Service (Serviço de Inspeção Federal – SIF), performing on site surveillance.
Among these processes, there are complex and detailed programs focused on preserv-ing quality and health, such as the National Residues and Contaminants Control Pro-gram (Programa Nacional de Controle de Resíduos e Contaminantes – PNCRC), which assesses self-controls adopted by poultry industries; Hazard Analysis and Critical Con-trol Points (HACCP), which adopts preven-tive measures and eliminates any risk to the consumer; the Sanitation Standard Operat-ing Procedures (SSOP); and the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
At the same time, exporter plants are peri-odically assessed by health authorities from countries to which Brazil exports, including European Union and Japan.
Brazilian Egg: Tasty and Healthy
Brazil ranks among the world’s top ten egg producers. Brazilian Eggs can be found on the tables of consumers in more than 22 countries. Strict surveillance in animal health issues, high quality standards and certifi ca-tions , as well as reliable food safety practices are features of the egg chain and assure total safety for consumers of Brazilian eggs.
The Middle East is the most important des-tination for Brazilian egg exports, mainly im-porting fresh eggs.
Brazil exports fresh table eggs and egg products (pasteurized whole egg, albumen and egg yolk available in frozen and dried forms).
Brazil: a partner of local industries For decades, Brazil has contributed to serv-ing the growing demand for animal protein on the fi ve continents, through export of quality products, with guaranteed health and an affordable price.
In the case of chicken meat, for instance, Brazilian products are found in 150 markets, with export volumes that are in excess of lo-cal production, complementing supply and contributing to technological innovation, with a constant commitment to meet the specifi c product and quality requirements in each country.
Whether in supplying products for process-ing (as is the case with the European Union) or in supplying international restaurant chains (as in Japan, China and others), the export of Brazilian animal protein contrib-utes to the creation of jobs and income in the importing countries.
Moreover, Brazil helps partner countries to meet the greater demand for the cuts most favored by their populations, such as breast meat in the European market, thighs and legs in the Russian market, wings in Canada and feet in China, supplementing local sup-ply of these products.
