About Brossaï Born Gyula Halász In Brossó; used to be a part of Hungary, now Romania Moved to Paris when he was 25 His love of Paris and frequent nighttime wanderings of the

city inspired his photography His works led him to fame, with shows in the George

Eastman House (Rochester, NY), the Art Institute (Chicago), and NYC’s Museum of Modern Art

In addition to photography, he wrote 17 books and his film won “Most Original Film” at the Cannes Film Festival

Died in southern France on 8 July 1984
