At Branksome Hall ASIA, we nurture the development of a global perspective and a deep commitment to community service, which benefits all students as they discover their strengths, their broader community, and the world.
MISSION: Each day, we challenge and inspire girls to love learning and to shape a better world.
VISION: To be the pre-eminent educational community of globally minded learners and leaders.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENTWe challenge our students to develop new skills, to learn more about themselves, and to make a difference in the communities in which they live and learn. At Branksome we believe that Identity development deserves equal standing with Intellectual development. We deliver this focus, encouragement and an enabling set of experiences that will provide a holistic education through the following programs: LEARNING Our classrooms are a foundation for learning giving our students tools to build on. Hands on learning experiences solidify the concepts that have been taught in the classroom. ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT Our co-curriculars support the academic endeavors and mission of the school. These activities and support systems are considered to be an integral part of school life. With over 50 non-academic options to choose from, students are given the means to enhance social interaction, leadership, healthy recreation and self-confidence. GLOBAL OUTLOOK We focus on the questions of perception rather than the specifics of geography or language by exploring multiple ways knowledge can be combined, comprehended and applied in our world. EXCHANGE OPPORTUNITIES Each year all Grade 9 students from Branksome Hall ASIA and Branksome Hall CANADA embark on a reciprocal living and learning experience between the sister schools. This exchange focuses on student leadership activities and broadens their global perspective. LOCAL AND GLOBAL COMMUNITY SERVICE Community Service Learning initiatives stem from the firm belief that the role of students extends beyond the classroom walls. Taking on the roles within community organizations as collaborators and mentors, our students gain exposure and learn about various disparities locally and globally. These experiences enable crucial communication, organization and teamwork skills.
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) DIPLOMA PROGRAMIn Grade 11, students begin the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. The IB curriculum is a rigorous program, demanding breadth and depth and it is externally examined and evaluated against an international standard.
The IB Diploma requires a student to study a subject from a variety of different disciplines, three at the Higher Level and three at the Standard Level. External examinations are taken at the end of the two-year program. The Theory of Knowledge course, the Extended Essay (a 4,000-word independent research paper), and a minimum of 150 hours of Creativity, Action, Service are additional requirements for the Diploma.
The International Baccalaureate uses a seven-point scale for each of six subjects, plus three additional Diploma points for other core requirements, for a total of 45. The IB Diploma is awarded for 24 points if all requirements are met.
Due to our rigorous and challenging academic standards, we do not rank students.
