Intermec Counter

Newer Processor – 624 Mhz PXA270 XScale (Bulverde) vs. CK60 PXA 272

Technology evolves quickly – last to make a final decision gets the latest model. Both MC9000 and CK60 offer processors from PXA27x class. Both carry same internal bus speeds. The 100 Mhz difference in external clock speeds should not produce a difference to end user applications. Advantage of PXA272 processor is that NOR ROM flash is integrated on chip package. CK60 memory architecture provides an additional customer application storage space that provides option for faster, non-volatile read requirements. (NOR technologies provide faster reads than NAND). CK60 provides NOR and NAND (128MB Diskonchip). MC9000 only NAND. In addition, CK60 offers 128MB RAM. Overall, CK60 offers a total of 33-67% more memory.

Lorax – Long Range Scanning Symbol is strongly positioning the Lorax (near/far) scanner, as it is a known gap in our scanning engine product line. Unfortunately, they are even recommending when it is not appropriate for customers scanning requirements. Remember:…1) near/far capabilities reduces scan angle and therefore ability to scan long codes in near range 2) The engine is 30% larger than standard and bigger back on device 3) Two motors = double failure points 4) Uses 3x more power than standard scanner.

WWAN The 700 Series continues to support the WWAN capabilities. Updates to support the EDGE technologies planned for mid-2006 release. In addition, 700 Series offers CDMA option. MC9090 supports EDGE & iDEN.

Defined RFID Strategy Fork truck and 700 Series RFID options are currently available. Additional RFID strategies to be announced.

CK60 Winning Strengths

Benefit

Rugged The CK60 meets or exceeds the most rugged, mobile handheld standards currently in the market. If needed, Intermec’s customer replaceable rubber bumpers design allows for the ability to “refresh” the device drop-ability – maximizing the products life cycle.

Memory Architecture For memory architecture, the CK60 stands in a class of it’s own. Offering 33%-67% more memory that our current competitors – 64/128 RAM, 64 ROM, 128M On-Board Persistent Store (plus SD options)– the CK60 is designed and optimized to protect the data for those mobile applications requiring significant amounts of localized storage and large amounts of remote keying input. It is also the only device to currently offer 128MB RAM.

Flexible Intermec’s strategy for customer installable scan handles makes the ability to re-purpose the CK60 simple. Our “1/4 Turn Lock & Latch System” requires no tools, yet stays on during drop. This allows the CK60 to easily migrate between scan-intensive or high data input applications.

CCX2 In addition to meeting the CCX2 wireless networking protocols, Intermec’ salliance with the primary provider of wireless infrastructure technologies (Cisco) provides our customers confidence in knowing that the CK60 will work on a Cisco backbone. (go to http://tools.cisco.com/cmn/jsp/index.jsp?id=46863 for additional details on the Cisco/Intermec alliance.)

SmartSystems™ Intermec’s own SmartSystems client comes loaded on all CK60 configurations. Making all Intermec devices “easy to use,” this free software utility allows for enabling all device settings via a free, non-proprietary Smartsystems console.
