Potential candidates included “Tier 1” contract-manufacturing firms with factories both domestically as well as in low cost regions. Implementation of a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) System - Responsibilities consisted of selecting and implementing a cost effective software system to manage all product design information (BOMs, AVLs, Regulatory Req.) and engineering changes. We selected a PLM system called “Arena PLM” and I was responsible for initial setup and implementation as well as training all production and engineering personnel on the use of the software. During implementation and setup, I created and documented standardized processes for part number creation, revision control, and processes for implementing deviations and engineering changes. PROFESSIONAL PROJECTS (continued) PASS Rx Cost Reduction – Secured cost reductions, which resulted in over 20% savings of total BOM cost during first year of production. Cost reductions secured by leveraging current suppliers and obtaining competitive quotes, consolidating suppliers, and sourcing low risk components to lower cost regions. Outsourcing vs. In-house Production – Analyzed our current outsourcing strategy to determine if the strategy continues to be feasible with current sales projections. The current strategy compared with an In-house alternative by analyzing floor space requirements, labor and equipment capacities, startup cost, and risk factors associated with moving operations in-house. The data showed a clear cost advantage and reduced risk in changing our current strategy. A recommendation was made and approved by executive management and Board of Directors. Creation of a new Production Organization – Responsibility for defining and implementing a production organization within the company which included: Shipping, Receiving, Inventory Control, Production Planning, Production Engineering, Purchasing & Shop Floor personnel. The primary focus had been on engineering and development of prototype systems. As the company grew, the demand for additional systems spawned the need for a full-scale production organization. New processes, procedures, resources, and a production facility were needed to expand this capability. Processes and systems implemented included: design release to production, inventory management, production travelers and work instructions, “As Built Lists” (ABLs), and implementation / integration of an ERP system.
