Brand Ethos

Brand Tagline

Were a brand which focuses on finding furniture that is timeless. Whether it stems from the modern day or from the past, the aspects of design will be fitting in order to carry us forward for years to come. Our designs will have all the technological aspects when it comes to creating a room that is effective in it's functionality, but beautiful in it's simplicity.

During the 1960’s people were becoming ever more in tune with the the idea that space travel would become a reality. Yuri Gagarin being the first man to orbit the earth on the 12th of April 1961, led people as far to dream of living in space.

This inspired creations in furniture paying subtle homage to spaceships, their interiors and outer space itself. Our furniture stems from the idea for the film ‘2001 A Space Odyssey’. The designs used worked then during the 1960’s, would would in the 21st century and for years to come with living in space becoming more a reality each day.

Our brand is about finding furniture that was sought after in the same way Stanley Kubick did. Whether the items are a hundred years old or not, if they can appear timeless in their design and functionality they could work for many years to come.

BRAND INSIGHT

As a new company we want people to see us as a brand that is looking towards a more simplistic approach in the style of furniture we sought. Our inspiration comes from contemporary modernist designs but ones that have elements which could carry us forward in a functional and simple world.

The furniture is sought out to have features that would look good in the past, present and future.

We believe a brand is all about finding people who can relate to your ideas and who want to keep coming back. We want to bring together anyone who has that similar interest of clean cut, efficiently designed pieces of furniture that can’t be pin pointed to the era they were designed in and therefore don’t lose their style.

Choice of Typeface - Futura

With regards to the logo we wanted to find a font the could be like our furniture and stay timeless. As the brand is based a lot around the progression into future living, we feel simplicity is the key. Futura is a perfect typeface that has remained ahead of it’s time having been commercially released by Paul Renner in 1927.

Futura was the first typeface on the moon having been chosen for a commemorative plaque left by the astronauts of Apollo 11 in 1969.

Futura’s crisp, clean forms reflect the appearance of efficiency and forwardness even today. That is why we choose it, as it has the same values as ‘ROOM’ in wanting provide products of the same nature. The other reason is the relation to ‘Space Odyssey 2001’ as it was the chosen typeface for the film due to it’s heavy focus on future living.

Brand Colours

Our logo will generally be black or white, but in some variations we also use red when legibility becomes a factor. We use red as a secondary colour in our branding and various typeface placement. Due to it’s relation with fear and danger it holds a lot of power and works well in getting a message across and giving some depth and variance to the brand.

Brand Marketing

In the initial parts of our release we intend to be circulating around various furniture shows and exhibitions in order to promote our brand. The designs we have chosen are a promotional concertina brochure/poster and various product postcards.

The brochure has been designed to be easily taken away from a display having been made just dlightly bigger than a bank card. It gives all the relative information about our ethos, pictures and descriptions of the products, including designer and brand information. What it isn’t is a full catalogue of everything, but an insight into the initial release of ‘ROOM’ coming June 2017.

The postcards will accompany the brochure in an A6 format, showing full side images of individual products with a description of the item and brand. There will be information on the back about the designer and their work on the products.
