Gino Rosati’s smooth guitar style is
familiar to many on the RI jazz scene. He
has played here multiple times with
vocalist Tish Adams, and we are pleased
to welcome him back. This is Grammy-
nominated pianist Joe Parillo’s debut at
the library. A Professor of Music,
Coordinator of Graduate Studies, and
Director of Jazz Studies at URI, he as

chines—American Aviation and the Great War
This presentation addresses the war in the air on the
Western Front. Topics include the founding of a nascent US
Army Air Corps, the Lafayette Escadrille of American
aviation volunteers in French service, and Captain Eddie
Rickenbacker and the 94th Aero Squadron.

the Great War on Land
This presentation addresses the land war on the Western
Front and the US Army and Marine Corps Battles and cam-
paigns. Topics include raising, training, and preparation for
combat operations, General John J. Pershing, the St. Mihiel
and Meuse-Argonne Battles and Sergeant Alvin York.

Ladies, the enslaved women who worked
for them, and their way of life in a society
that supported slavery. Marie Schwartz, URI
Professor Emeritus of History, focused her
research on conditions of life, childbirth,
and medicine for enslaved women and chil-
dren in the Antebellum South, and will speak about her
